I have a couple of questions... Im headed to Whistler next summer and im gonna ride my hardtail. However, i think ill need a longer travel fork (i have an 04 vanilla r 5'). First, how badly willa longer travel fork affect my ahndling. Second, i was looking at the jr t's and the stance kingpins bc theyre pretty budget. Thanks

Skip the Jr-T It might have more travel than your Vanilla, but it won't feel as good. As a matter of fact skip DC forks on a HT, they just look really dorky on HT's ;)

The effect on handling depends on what your frame is designed to run and what you plan on putting on it. Putting a 7" fork on a HT meant to run a 5" fork will slow the steering and raise the front end.

Why not just rent a duallie when you're in Whistler?

I would just rent a real DH bike in Whistler, like Zark said. In general, DC's on hardtails feel pretty choppered-out, although some people, especially in BC, really like that set-up. What kind of frame do you have?

i have a morphine with the stance kingpin and it feels nice. the cool thing about the kingpin is that it has a low axle to crown height. its about the same as many 6" forks

o money money i was just aobu to ask aobut that fork, thats really cool how it can be adjusted down to 5 inches, that should keep handling tight... and then i figure i can crank it up for the big stuff hmmm

lemmie tell ya, the ride is FLIPPIN SWEET, I can stick my fingers behind the lower crown to clean the crap off the seals, there's a well thought out zip tie location on the new beefier crown, and the u turn dial is located right next to my stem, just reach a lil when I'm riding and crank it. NSMB said it would be a great fork for a fr ht, and I couln't agree more.

Are you more into hucking or technical stuff? Also, when you figure out the total cost, plan on either a new front wheel or your current rim laced to a new hub, because both the Ride and the Kingpin have 20mm axles, but the Fox doesn't.

i ran a 6" super t on my cowan for whistler, it was tits. once you sag into the travel, it sits at 4 or 5 inches anyway, so it doesnt feel too bad when riding it.
Did you ride mostly A-Line and that kind of stuff, or the more technical trails, too? Some of them would be pretty punishing on a hardtail.

Face-plants suck; I once managed to achieve two in one run. Two face plants=one very sore neck.

I would love to get a hardtail with a 6" or 7" fork and take it up there sometime, but I'm worried I wouldn't ride it much otherwise.

By the way, how are you liking your Hardline?
