In a van.... down by the river
They are reporting another foot overnight. And 152" base. Sounds like great spring conditions to me.

Although wouldn't Utah be a much shorter drive? Snowbird is reporting another foot in 24hrs and a 152" base as well. :thumb:

I wish Uncle still lived at south shore. :( I just don't have the desire to go to San Francisco to visit.

There are tons of places to stay up in South Shore, from decent hotels to dumpy motels.

Hey I made a rhyme:rolleyes:

Are all the bike shops ski shops in the winter??? I went in one shop down by the grocery store. There was a V-10 with a destroyed wheel and a broken shiver. Funny guys at the shop though.

edit - that's a cheap rate. How cheap are flights???

I was there with the groms on Sunday. The base is deep, the crowds are gone...but having said that, it's still Heavenly aka Flattenly. If you're flying out to ski Tahoe, I would send you to Squaw instead.

We got rained out on Monday. The snow level was above 8,000 feet. Tuesday the snow level dropped to around 4,000 feet and it dumped again.

me=n0Ob i dont know what that means.
That means it's almost as sh|tty as Flatstar aka Northstar but it has better infrastructure.

If you're tied to South Lake because you want to hit the casino scene at night, Kirkwood is worth the 40 minute drive.

I live a mile from Heavenly off of ski run. So here's my 2 cents.
Now would be the time to come to south shore because the crowds are dwindling. As for bike shops.... LTD right near the gondola has all their bike stuff out year round.
There are too many cheap hotels around to count. And even if you're not right near Heavenly, there is a free Heavenly shuttle.

thanks Amy. I've been a couple of times and take the shuttle from the airport and leave the car rental for the tourist :) ( i dont think i could drive on snow with a tank)
the crap trap across from the gondola is just perfect for me.

I kind of feel the same way, but the redneck in me tells me to go for it. It can't be any different than mud. :D I do get worried about the 100 ft deep bar ditches though.

have you ever gone out to kirkwood? that's my favorite mountain. it's much steeper than heavenly. but heavenly has some good hikeable stuff that doesn't get tracked out.

i get bored and antsy this time of year and (try to) switch to riding my bike. so i'm out less and less on the mtn as the spring progresses.

Yea i've heard of Kirkwood but it looks a little above my skill set. I might try it next year if i go.
