Brian,
It's great that you donate...we currently are working on a drive for MS this week.

On a side note I absolutely hate Chevron. I've worked with the account for two years, and refuse to buy anything from them now. Which is funny because Chevron was all I bought. What's even better is the guy that use to have this account did the same. They're such pricks (in my opinion of course). But that's politics.

Out of curiosity anyone here ever purchase one of the Chevron cars? I've thought about it before for my kids, but I never went in when I used Chevron.

Those cars are so popular, kids seem to really love them, we have sh*tloads of them here. Chevron is the best quality gas period, even though I use what ever gas is closet to me.

i'm bummed that CK discontinued the sour apple green ano...that was my fave.

I got one of the sour apple green headsets at Interbike a couple of years before I got the pink one when they did the interbike thing. Back then there were only fifty of em! I thought I was so special till they made it a standard color a couple of years later!

Just curious, Brian...how long has Julie been the product manager for the chevron cars? That sounds like a way cool gig. If she's been at it for a while...were YOU the inspiration behind the little green one with the mtn bikes on top? I wonder how many of us on RM have em on our desks. I also have the one with the wood panels (I certainly don't want to say I have a WOODY!) and a surf board...that ones cool too, so give her props from me!

i'd never heard of the chevron cars until i clicked on that link. must be an east coast thing. i can't think of the last time i saw a chevron.

and how does chevron's gas quality differ from anyone else's? it's not like they own their own refinery, is it? my bro's an oil broker so i'll find out the skinny.

Well get the skinny on why the hell we're paying $2.20 for a damn gallon of gas while you're at it!

Oh...and we're on the WEST coast!

no, i meant that east coast thing being no chevrons in the area.

here's the info i got from my brother.

gas companies can get gasoline from various refineries at a certain octane spec, but can then put additives into it for performance, anti-fouling, etc reasons.

gas is expensive in CA because it's made to a certain specification, one which only CA refineries produce. he also thought there may be royalty costs involved in the production process. because there is a smaller supply (they can't bring in gas from a gulf refinery, for example), gas prices in CA are subject to higher swings, if the supply (for instance, there is a production problem at one of the refineries) or demand changes suddenly.

I think that if you contemplate your *second* line for a few minutes, you might arrive at an answer for your question in the *first* line...... :D

Wow thanks...yeah I knew about the special specs...just pisses me off that gas is so damn high...once I get my damn gas bill paid, its back up to 400 bucks!

This thread proves that it's just a matter of time until purple ano comes back into style.

Maybe bar ends will return at the same time. :D

Ok I am not jumping on any 'pink' bandwagon...I have LOVED pink since I was a wee little girl. In fact, my mom loves to tell me a story about my aunt giving me a pink dress and socks for my 4th bday and I told her thank you for all the pinkness! So I'm an OG wit da PINK...YO!

Hold on. Are you telling me your gas bill is $400?

Please tell me this is per year.......... :help:

-S.S.-

I wish. I would say about 200 - 300 every 4-6 weeks. I commute to work. Not a really long commute...but enough to make a dent in a gas tank by the end of the week. Throw in some toolin round town and trips to Tahoe...and cha-ching!

Yah, mon. I don't think I rack up $400/mo for gas for my car, my wife's van, AND my natural gas to the house. Yikes.........

no no no...I said 2 to 3 hundred every 4-6 weeks average...it's about 40 bucks a tank to fill my Jeep in the bay area and then throw in frequent trips to Tahoe...it just seems like everytime I get my bill, it's nearly 400 bucks...I pay then there are the fill ups between...it's robbery I tell you...but then again I guess California is the only state that cares about its environment. :D

If you cared, you would drive a Kenworth. They have tighter emission standards than your Jeep does.

What's a Kenworth? A dryer?

The emissions from new vehicles including SUV's are way less than what that damn hippy screaming about SUV's supporting the war that is driving an old piece of crap VW van is spewing...
That's a kenmore dummy. A Kenworth would be a truck. They are tight on them in Cali.

I can guarantee you that number of actual 'californians' is about half that...most people here are NOT from Cali...
Hold on a second...... does that mean if I move to California I'm not a "Californian"? Sweet!! :thumb:

I'd hate for someone to think I'm a Californian.... :blah:

so dhg, i never did figure out why you are going to sell yr pink headset.

Well...back in da day...when CK would go to Interbike, each year he would do a set of 50 headsets in an off color...meaning a color that wasn't normally produced. He did it with the green apple one year and I had one of those on my old bike. Then a few years later he came out with the green apple hubs. Anyway, about 3 or 4 years ago, he brought pink and I think rootbeer brown to the show. I LOVE pink and I got it back then, and I've been waiting for the hubs to come out. Soooo...the whole promotion is a headset and the hubs, no seperate-sy's, so I figured if I want the hubs, I gotsta git the whole package. There is someone out there that will love a pink headset. The bike that the hubs are going on is my not so supa light, which already has the pink headset. The V10 already has a CK headset...plus I like the blue theme on that bike.
