I'm starting my search for a good wrist brace. I am looking for something that will do three things. Assist in supporting a semi-functional wrist, offer some protection from reinjuring the wrist, all while allowing me to ride/race. I want something similar to the CTI knee braces. Light weight exo-skeletal design with a custom fit. So far the only thing I have found is by a company called Allsport Dynamics, and it looks like they outfit a few top MX and freestyle guys. Anyone have any experience with this company or know of any others??

I used an EVS brace after breaking my wrist this summer and it gives good support but really only in one direction. 661 makes one real similar.

Yeah, I checked out the evs and 661. They don't offer enough support or protection. The one I'm considering right now is this one, I just don't know anyone thats used one and am looking for some feedback, or other companies exo skeletal braces. Cost isn't a huge issue as my health insurance will cover it.

Note: But NOT in that color...EEWW!!

I use the 661 Wrist Wrap and it gives me blisters around the thumb area where it touches the grip I have to put band aids on before a ride because of it...definately do a ride test if at all possible before purchasing. Hope you find the perfect one!! ;)

I have used the EVS one for years now and it supports me perfectly. There are two EVS braces, for broken scaphoids look of rht one with the removable hard foam inserts, not the one that has a thumb loop.

Wow, I never knew anything of that sort existed so no help there. If you get one, give us a review, would ya? I am in a cast right now and may be in need in about 4 more weeks.

Yeah, I did see those, but unfortunately, I also broken the crap out of my radius a good part of the way up and the EVS isn't long enough to cover everything I need covered. My surgeon has also told me that I won't be able to use the soft wrap style braces, and really need some more rigid support. Also, my insurance will cover custom fit bracing units (@ 85%), but not off the shelf ones and unfortunately I am most likely going to be using a brace the rest of my active life, so I'm looking for something more permenante.

Threepointtwo-If I end up with one of these I will definetely give a full product review. Their custom models run around $1000 but if medically necessary, most insurance companies cover it. They also have an off the shelf model that is about $350. Pricey but so is rebuilding an already compromised wrist. I've already wracked up about $50,000 worth of medical bills, and I don't want to do that again! By the way, their web page if you want to check it out is allsportdynamics.com.

I've been using the EVS for years. My friends make fun that I'm over protective. I feel it covers enough especially with body armor and gloves. What else is there to cover. I even have to wear it loose because it stops my circulation. You might have to cut the wrist elastic off your jerseys to be comfortable. That's why I love Simpson Jerseys with velcro wrist straps. (Thanks Ty). If your wrist is not fully healed, don't ride yet.

Dude, I wouldn't make assumptions if I were you. I'm not looking for a brace so that I can ride before I'm healed. I'm looking for a brace because I lost about 50% use of my hand and wrist from an injury which I'm currently healing from. I won't be able to ride until next spring. Like I have said, I CAN'T USE THE FRIKKIN EVS!!! I severed several ligaments in my wrist and shattered a few bones, and need a brace with an EXOSKELETAL SUPPORT. I am asking if anyone else has used the type of brace I posted a picture of, as that is what my doctors want me to wear WHEN I CAN START RIDING AGAIN!! Sorry to sound harsh but for christ sake I've said like three times in this thread that I can't use the EVS and then someone assumes I'm doing something stupid like riding before I'm healed.

So, to rephrase the original question, just so theres no more confusion: Has anyone used the brace I posted a picture of, or something similar. I'll snap if one more person tells me the EVS is more than enough brace for because it's not!

I'm sorry, I didn't read the thread clearly. I just figured you needed the brace for riding. I remember seeing pics of you after your crash, I hope you heal soon. After your last reply I realized that they don't call you DH Diva for nothing. Ha,Ha.

This is the one I have, and it works great for DJing. For DH i find it a little restrictive, and it doesn't fit well under my dainese.

That EVS brace just saved me from another cast.
I had it on when I messed up the ligaments in my hand,
and I bruised my wrist really bad, but I believe that wrist
brace kept my hand from bending back far enough to fracture it.

And DH Diva, I checked out that brace when I jacked up my wrist the first time, but I could not afford it. Also, I have never seen a DHer with one on, but supposedly they work really well for moto racers, and their wrist take a beating. Good luck, and if ya get it, let us know what you think.

Once again I will highly recommend the triple-8 brace which is available at skateshops. I have used this brace worn over top of my full-fingered gloves for five years. I go through 2-3 sets per year. No wrist damamge since. It is a fully rigid brace with plates on both the top and bottom of the hand that extend from palm to mid forearm. I do not know why more riders do not use this style of brace especially with more aggressive riding. I guess they might being worried about not looking cool or something. F@#k that, I would rather be riding than paying hospital bills.
