I have a pretty nice Karate Monkey that I have to sell to pay lawyer's fees. That will leave me without a bike. Does anyone know of an inexpensive versatile 29er? Maybe a frame that I could run single until I pinch the pennies enough to give up shifty bits. I prefer steel, but will go nuts without a bike so I am considering all comers. NYCbikes looked promising, but what I've read all seems hit and miss.
Anyone run anything bigger than a 700x45 on a hybrid? Saw some of those cheap. Rack braze ons would be nice, but I have an omm rack so not a big concern.
