And looking for suggestions! :)

Have a 2001 straight 6, with a Fox Vanilla rear and Rock Shox Psylo fork!

I was thinking about a Stratos LR-1 6 Inch Double Crown fork. And perhaps Stratos Helix pro shock! or a Romic.....But don't know if they would fit. (5 3/4" eye to eye)

Any suggestions on these, or other "better" products!

Also, what can you do about chainslap, a part from the obvious, and change it out to an all out DH rig.

Thnak's guys!

Dude, if you want a DH bike, you are better off getting a new one. Trying to change a bike's 'genre' is usually an ill-fated experiment. Not to say you can't pimp out a Straight 6--but it'll never be a "DH bike," geometry-wise.

Anyhow, to answer your questions...steer clear of any Stratos products, IMHO. Find a used Marzocchi Super-T or Shiver, or Manitou Sherman, or take a chance on the new Stance Kingpin.

Oh, actually, check out the Suspension forum in buy/sell. A few people are selling 2003 Sherman Sliders (6" dual crowns) cheap (under $300, I think). I have one on my RFX. Perfect fork for a 6" freeride bike, and the TPC+ damping is reliable and proven; mine is the smoothest fork I've ever owned. Personally, I don't like having a fork with more travel than my rear end (unless I'm on my HT, natch...)

If you want your rear shock improved, I'd send your Fox in to Push for an upgrade (under $150) before I spent money on anything new. Lots of good reports on these, mixed with a few stories of problems which were corrected ASAP by Push. They're pretty local to you, too.

For a chainguide, buy an E-13 guide unless you've got a great deal on an MRP...(and it'd have to be a REALLY good deal).

I had the same bike for a couple years and did some dh racing on it. its a sick bike so small and man handle able

i would n't get a double crown fork for that frame for fear of busting the headtube, but one of the new long travel sc forks ( 5 or six inches 32mm tubes) should be great for that bike. wish i had one instead of an creaky 02 dirt jumper with 30 mm tubes

get some dh tires duh... and intense edge 2.35 fits good in the back of that carbon arm

maybe a 8" rotor for the front brake to help w/ the added wieght of the dh tires
if the bike still has those wtb laser disc rims ditch em for something a little sturdier...rhyno lites or something similar.

also back the trunion mount down all they way in order to make the wheel base a bit longer like .75" i think
other than that rip it up its a great bike
