As I said over @ Hcor, those are not the US-spec bikes. I think they're Austrailian or something.
We'll be releasing info on ours in a couple of weeks.
Thanks!

Because we all know that an Aussie can ride a shoebox fast if it had wheels on it.

i'm slightly confused about all this to be honest, cause lets face it if your feet hit the deck at any kind of speed then they'll get whipped behind you so fast that there is only one outcome (almost) regardless of top tube height

you mean the one that hasn't dropped a chain on me in 2 years? i see no problem there!
Except for really bad clearance and that perfectly placed front tab. That thing works great for catching logs on roll ins.

??????
The linkage is what makes that bike what it is.

gesse the guide is as big as the bike. if you ask me thats a little excessive. why not just put an e13 or mrp on it and be done with this grinding crap. grinding is not a good thing when it comes to things like a dh bike or any bike for that matter. i agree new linkage is needed.

Oh man, that reminds me. I saw basketball shoes (what else) with tiny spinner rims on them yesterday. THEY ACTUALLY SPIN, and cost in excess of $150. who pays this much money for friggin sneakers?

Haven't been around DH bikes a long time have ya?

About 5 years ago, all you needed was a dremel with a grinding wheel, a hammer, a hacksaw and a good set fo allen keys. Then you could make ANY DH bike work.

Are you talking in American or Canadian? They are Latrell Spreewell's shoes (the inventor of spinners, or something like that) and they are only like $105. For basketball shoes nowadays that is pretty normal. I also think they look pretty sweet.

Yeah, that makes sense that they are the Sprewell model.
Because just by me looking at them makes me want to chock somebody.

It doesn't solve the standover issue IMO... dunno about you guys, but I never managed to land on my nuts UNDER the seat, 99% of the time it's on the seat, the other 1% of the time is split between the front of the tt/stem and the rear tyre. You still can't slam the seat down to a decent height, which sucks. Seems to me to be a totally craptacular attempt at marketing "lower standover".

Oh, and the whole have-to-remove-shock-to-adjust-it package as well? Yeh, fantastic design there.
You didn't happen to notice the remote reservoir before you made that comment, did you?

Seems to me like there are a lot of people kicking ass on those Giant DH bikes... If it ain't broke...

Well, in that case, there is no design in the world that will satisfy you. Right behind the stem is always going to be high, that's set by your fork height. And the rear tire is set where it is.

When a company gives you a "standover" measurement, it's when you're standing in front of the saddle. Seems to me like they did a great job of improving standover...

I'm moreso referring to the 04 Giant DH's that landed in Australia with no remote reservoir. So much for the tunability of 6 ways, if you have to dismantle half the bike to get to the shock.

Good to see that they're speccing remote reservoir on all their DH bikes (hopefully) for 05. Shame that the dropped top tube looks ugly as, and will only be of benefit when you're standing stationary over the bike... I guess that'd be handy when you're talking to people and want to pose whilst on your bike.

I have to loosen more bolts to remove either my front or rear tire than to remove my shock for adjustments.
Actually the rear is 3 bolts total, same as the shock.

how the hell can you get anymore standover clearance than that? remove the top tube alltogether? how is this new revisions standover worse than 95% of the bikes out there? Maybe they should remove the headtube also, because that seems to promote the use of other annoying structural members sticking out from it.....

is it just me, or are people becoming more and more incessant whiners here? its like if they dont like a particular bike or company at one time, when something new comes out from them they'll poo-poo all over it without even using their brain to actually look at it. And if theres nothing technically wrong that they can legitimatly point out, it just simply becomes ugly, or un-innovative....

despite Ridemonkeys collective superiority complex, its still within a stones-throw of Pinkbike...

I think its a awesome bike and doesn't need to be changed. I was only whining cause I'd like to see Giant spec. E13's OEM. It's the perfect bike for it to protect it's low linkage, and 99% of the customers buying it would rather have it anyhow.

what they *should* have done:
yes, and then called it a small frame. Noticed you lopped of some seat tube.

Notice that Santa Cruz uses bent top tubes for the larger models that have the longer seat tubes, and the smaller ones can use the sloped ones.

Its either that or use big gussets, or a seat mast.

ya, but giant has always gone overboard with seat-tube lengths on their dh frames. they could easily lop a couple inches off & provide adequate seat extension. these ARE dh frames, after all. the large frame looks positively xc; what is it, 19"?
