There are reports of 18 inches of water against the levee in the Quarter. That's not good but it certainly isn't as bad as it could be.
The east part of New Orleans seems to be catching the brunt of the flooding.
Ummmmmmmm...... what the?
who now wants somebody to risk their life to save his stupid ass.
I wonder if that is 'Flip Off Guy'..???
Flip Off Guy normally paints himself with silver spray paint, stands on a wire milk crate, and poses like a statue... except he is giving everyone the finger...
So the looting has started... (this is right out side the quarter)
We're outside of a Winn-Dixie grocery store on St. Louis Street here, and they're literally walking out with the store. Shopping carts filled to overflowing, they even have some of their kids going in with them to get stuff out of the store, just one after the other, there must be 40 or 50 people inside, coming out of the Winn-Dixie parking lot here right now.
Wow you still have power and internet access?
Get a nice flat screen or something. I am kidding, I hope it isnt nearly as bad as everyone was predicting.
They'd better be careful because NO cops tend to shoot first and ask questions later... I know they have a "You start to loot, we start to shoot" policy.
I've read on the news wires law enforcement speak of "rules of engagement" with regards to looters............yikes............
You figure these guys get paid enough?
Firemen in Mississippi going to get a trapped family.
No way they do it for the pay... no way in hell....
Katrina Flashes Big Easy
29 Aug | SNews
New Orleans looters, planning ahead, have already begun chartering boats large enough to haul away plasma tv's, and other booty...
Why even bother with the boat? That little outboard sure isn't going to be enough to fight their way upwind....
Where do you think they are gonna put the people if they are injured?
Those guys are gonna find mad beers at their station tomorrow.
Its a selfless job, but someone has to do it.
Like anyone here know who gordie is.....
The THip are an excellent band!
Not fair. You're from here.....
Aug. 30, 2005 Inmates at a prison in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans have rioted, attempted to escape and are now holding hostages, a prison commissioner told ABC News affiliate WBRZ in Baton Rouge, La.
One year ago....
all hell was breaking loose.
Gee just what we need. More "Katrina! One year later!!"
tell that to the poor bastards in Houston who are still dealing w/ the refugees.
I'm not discounting the gravity of the disaster. Just sick of the pointless observation of the anniversary.
You think this is bad, wait another 12 days.
no sh!t.... What colour ribbon are we supposed to wear?
N8 i might take you up on that eventually.
We can debate unimportant stuff and you watch me huck your niner.
That just sounds wrong.
so did we ever work out what color? brown? festering green? Dead bloated body purple?
I still think a shot of GB planting the bombs in the levee would be better.
but that's still kick ass.
Looks like your not exactly getting value for money in the rebuilding......
Why Is HUD Using Tens of Millions of Katrina Money to Bulldoze 4534 Public Housing Apartments in New Orleans When It Costs Less to Repair and Open Them Up?
Waaaaa! People who get free housing bitching about the people who support them because they arent doing it their way. "Its our home" No, actually, its not. Its government housing. Deal with it.
