Please keep your eyes peeled for a lost Poodle at Tiger Mt. If you see her or hear anything from anyone else, please call Diane at 312-330-2751. She bolted in front of 2 riders heading down the road between Preston and NW Timber a few days ago and hasn't been seen since. Here is a photo and the message from Diane:

Thank you for offering to post Vivie's information on your message board.
Because she is so frightened she is hiding somewhere in that vast forest. It
will take a lot of people watching out for her to find her. I think mountain
bikers have the highest chance of spotting her because you can move so quickly
and cover so much ground.

The goal right now is to discover the area in which she is hiding. Please look
each time you are on Tiger Mtn. It could take several weeks to find her.

Vivie is a small black standard poodle. She weighs 37-40 lbs. Her fur is clipped
very short. She looks like a hunting dog rather than a poodle. The picture I
have included here shows exactly what she looks like. She is wearing a
distinctive silver trimmed collar. Her micro-chip number is on one tag and her
name and my phone number are on the other.

She was last seen Saturday morning bolting down the West Side Road by the gravel
quarry. By now she could be anywhere on Tiger Mtn. So far no one has reported
seeing her. That means that she is hiding. To spot her now will be like spotting
a rabbit or other wild animal. You will most likely just get a glimpse of her
running across a path or through the underbrush. If you spot her, please note
the location as precisely as you can and call me as soon as possible. My number
is 312-330-2751.

Vivie was so frightened Saturday that she is in fight/flight mode. If you see
her it's important not to call out to her, look her directly in the eye, chase
her or attempt to catch her. It will only make it more difficult for the search
and rescue dogs to do their job.

Thanks so much for helping finder her.

hey Mike, Diane and anyone else in the area. Just wanted to give you a heads up and suggest you contact the folks at One Step At A Time (OSAT); look them up on their website. They are an awesome outdoor group and are frequently at Tiger; they old regularly scheduled meetings and would be a great resource to help you find your pup.

I'm not 100% sure about Search and Rescue, but I've heard the SAR folks and their dogs have helped find lost pets; it's worth giving them a call. I'll try to leave a message for Diane. Best of luck finding the pup; check Craigslist (Pets) and look for dogs found.

good luck

Good news. My dog was found Sunday evening at the top of Tiger Mountain. She is home now. She is frightfully thin and a little dehydrated but otherwise ok.

Thanks so much for all of your help. If it wasn't for so many bikers and hikers looking out for her she never would have been spotted. Please let everyone on the list know how much Vivie and I appreciate their efforts.

Warm regards,
Diane
