so... it's coming up soon. I'm hearing it's going to be rainy. and the track was rather.... treacherous when the rains came last year.

Not sure who the wet weather specialist is over on the ladies side... Pompon? Marine? Maybe Cami will be able to showcase her skills if the speeds aren't as high? Though it'll be hard to beat Tahnée...

On the mens side, Loïc has said he really doesn't like wet racing. Loris is on a high... but how will the rainbow jersey weigh on his shoulders? Could be a weekend for the Irish - Dunne and O'Callaghan? Danny is coming back on form... that would be fukkin' sweet to see... and will Dak ride with a fire in his belly?! I think he does pretty well in the wet, even if he's said he's not a fan...

Amaury! Remember that race a few back where it was pissing rain and he won by like 7sec? It was like he was racing a different course.

Supposedly most of the changes to the track have been to increase track accessibility for medical staff and others so this year rain won't cause juniors to be cancelled so that's good.

I am hoping Dany gets that bottom of Andorra form on again.

So Wyn spent a lot of time talking about "proposed changes" to the amount of qualifiers, which apparently will effect the TV broadcast. The responses ranged from like 30 to 60 riders.

I'm on the side of "the more the merrier". But I carve out time in my schedule to watch such nonsense. Cuz usually it's like at 5am my time. Not like I'm going to do anything productive besides have breakfast.

What do you guys think?

Fuck semis off
60 qualify for finals
But only top 30 televised (and open with whoever is on the hotseat's run)

it's not rocket science.

Kinda dislike Loic for his views on it.
Riders union my arse!

People and riders should stop complaining about starting too early and not being televised, even if you're one of the top riders.

YOU fucked up, that's the consequence, let someone else be televised. :brows:

Practise cancelled.

Weak sauce. I mean, it is an outdoor sport. Do they cancel ski race practice cuz it's snowing? Not in my experience. But whateves. Safety first, I suppose. I'm sure they've got their reasons.

I do love me some Seinfeld. You saying the mother was a mudder?! What did I just say. HA, so good :D

Track's gettin destroyed.

Won't be a problem next year with just 16 riders.

While I agree with your post, yes, sometimes they do cancel ski races because of too much snow.

Erice would fully lose her shit if it gets canceled on her again!
She was struggling to be nice about UCI/organisers after it was canned last year.

Quali results: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/elite-qualifying-results-from-the-loudenvielle-dh-world-cup-20242.html

Bernie back in 34 and no "P" next to his name... Will he miss finals as a result?!

Can't wait for the vlog..
How many for finals? 30? Then that means whopper junior (BK) missed it. (There's actually another definition for the whopper junior, militarily related, was in a movie, look it up. Not saying BK is a whopper jr, but the term is generally used affectionately even tho it sounds like it's not)

This is what I kinda figured. The fast guys will still be fast. No matter weather or terrain or what have you. They are like the best of the best....sooooo. Let the kids play?

Now if you have white out conditions? Fog? You can't even see the course? Yes, push pause button. I've def seen that. The vertigo is real. Course conditions deteriorating? IDK. I'm not from France. Don't know their dirt, weather, etc.

In CO? It would depend. But normally not cancelled, unless lightning. Then you're kinda screwed and nothing you can do. It could be totally dry, but lightning strikes? That'll shut it down. I'm sure riders from other countries/places would by like WTF? It's not even raining! :D

"whopper" is used here as a casual insult. Similar in meaning to "walloper", "dobber", "spanner", "roaster", "rocket" and many more

Yeah, I guess we shouldn't call him that.

I had to look it up. In the US military, it's generally a complement. Most notably for your marksmanship from really difficult approaches. Cuz that's your job. And you actually did it. And it's a tasty burger. HA

I worked at the Aussie equivalent of Burger King through high school to fund bike parts and attempting DH racing. I've made waaaaaaay too many whoppers in those years. It must number into the thousands. Good mates from that job tho.
