Does anyone know of a low profile camping cot, that doesn't cost +$200? I don't care about what its made of or its weight, as I won't be carrying it anywhere. As long as its sturdy. I have a 4 man tent, so regular height cots put my head/feet poking into the sides of said tent.

Reason I'm looking: on this most recent camping trip, I picked up a new Kelty air mattress after dealing with roots and rocks poking through my sleeping pad in Pennsylvania back in May. Well I'm not sure what happened, but even with that air mattress, my back was COMPLETELY f@cked the entire trip. Some nights I could barely get to sleep.

For the last half of this trip, I used my buddies cot and the back pain magically went away. So I'm thinking if I use a cost and maybe the sleeping pad, in theory I shouldn't have to deal with any of that again.

I got this one for my daughter, but I've slept on it and it was comfy and sturdy though a tiny bit wobbly:

This model is heavier/car camping style but sits higher up:

And this seems even more sturdy:

Other choices abound (sorted by % off...)

Did you ask you buddy what brand his cot is? Sounds like it worked for you

Chris,

Have you not perused the RM ‘Campers’ thread yet? Lots of good info in there on how to avoid sleeping on the ground and in a tent. And besides the interwebs knows it’s all about the brewers beard and a sprinter homemade conversion. Why worry about a shitty cot, just grow a beard and get a van man.

hammocks are supposed to be all the rage but still untested when it comes to solo-angry-hate-sex.
I couldn't do it. It hurt my back even getting into position. We climbed out and did on the picnic table instead. I had a laugh while we sat there in the morning and ate breakfast.
