easily FSA PIG DH Pro cartridge. no problems. everybody will say Chris King but you wouldn't have asked if you could afford that one....strike that.

FSA and Cane Creek both came out with new ones for this year. I'll get a pic of the Cane Creek one...think the FSA one is already on their site.

the only problem with that headset is that it is also really weak. i would only trust that thing on a road bike.
Weak how? Not defending it - just curious. I'm actually holding one in my hand now. Steel cups, fairly lage balls in the lower cage.
I guess it's not the deepest insertion depth I've ever seen, but it does not look weak.

the FSA Sky Pilot is pretty low and really durable...I needed a low stack headset and that was the best compromise between height and durability I came up with. Performed flawlessly. Highly recommended

change out your stem for a short stack one. That's a LOT easier (to find) and will get you more in the game of millimeters that you're playing.

Thomsons are 42mm stack, Atomlabs has one that's considerably shorter, and there are a ton of BMX stems that you could probably use with some shim.
