if I was Intense and gave somebody that frame at whatever discount....I'd be pretty pissed that a "sponsored rider" is cashing in on it like that. Why not do the honorable thing and put it back with Intense for what you paid for it and let them pro-deal it to a deserving racer?

not to mention Intense still make money on "pro deal"
I'm talking in terms of respect for the gift you've been given. Personally, if it were my company and I saw a guy making around $1000.00 off of something I gave him for purpose of representing my products....I would be pissed....profit or no profit my friend.

How would you feel if you were a guy who got turned down by Intense for sponsorship and saw this sitting online? It's just not cool to cash in on sponsorship product like that.

Sure, lots of us might order too much of a part and sell it at year end...but, this is super expensive, back ordered top of the line frame that retail customers can't even get their hands on yet and the dude's got two.

I'm sure he'll state something noble like "the money's going to doctor bills" or "team race fund", etc. whatever... :stosh:

you know, when you get that deep in speculation you always run the risk of that the truth is really far away from your scenario

say for instance this one, lets speculate again, this guy might have had to preorder and pay a deposit, say half of the price he was charged by intense, then these frames got delayed, how much was it? 4 months? something like that.
lets then think he just put this on his credit card, and then had to just sit and wait for the frames to come in, and in the mean time one of his supposed teammates pulled out and now they were stuck with an extra frame they had been paying cc bills for all these months.
so now lets do the math, this fellow will probably sell this m3 (if he is lucky) for 2,5k, and make a decent profit of a few hundred bucks on it after ebay fees, which may or may not be enough to cover his cc bill all these months.

then again i might be totally wrong, but it still proves the point that with no further knowledge of what REALLY went on, you cant really say this guy is doing anything wrong in any sense.

well, personally riding for Turner right now and to show you what I mean, a bro of ours got his deal on the pro deal purchase. Within a month and a half he had to sell it b/c he got in a financial bind. So, he lists and sells it for what he paid for it. He didn't feel right making a profit off of something Turner gave him for sponsorship. He was grateful for what they did for him. The guy got a huge discount that 90% of riders don't get and he did the honorable thing.

As for the argument about "extra awareness generating sales"...not too valid right now considering the bike is on back order and in huge demand....I'd say they've already accomplished the "awareness" part
I don't really care about this thread b/c everybody's gonna make up scenarios to justify an argument. I'm unsubscribing...peace! :thumb:

well your team buddy did a really commendable thing.

anyway i didnt mean more than just state that maybe there was room for this guy in some way not really making a profit with this sale, knowing how delayed the frames shipped and all.

Exactly, we have a sponsored rider down here waiting on an M-3. And I'm sure there are alot of others waiting.
What is being done on Ebay with that bike will ruin the opportunity for others who want to gain a sponsorship.

My guess is that they had to put a sizeable deposit down on the frames. Then were put off for a "few more weeks", then a few more, then a few more, etc. This is what happened to the co-owner of the LBS that ordered one when he got back from Interbike 2003!!
So they ask for their deposit back (speculating) and are told it is non-refundable (speculating). So here it is LONG after the last race of the year and they finally recieve the frames they have been waiting for since probably April.
I gong to guess that Intense could care less about what these people do with their frames as Intense has made their money.
As for your bro, I question if he sold it that cheap to be honorable, or just so he could liquidate ASAP with no money lost?

I'm just annoyed that the Ebay seller says the M3 gets 10" of travel, when in fact it gets 9.5" Only the V10 gets 10" of VPP travel. :D
