Tons of M9's out at Fontana over the weekend. I was talking to some guy who said his rc4 wouldn't fit into the most progressive shock setting. Possibly welding issue. Haven't tried my ccdb yet.

My CCDB fits into the progressive hole no problem.
Our team mate got his built right before the last Fontana race. He must have liked it because he pulled first in expert 27-34. Said he felt right at home as soon as he rode it.
do all your races out there break the age category down like this?
its a mix out here of 19-29 or 19-26 27-34

Sort of a mix. We have a local DH series in norcal that is a 19-34, but it's almost super-d status.
All the other series' around California seem to be broken out more. It's kind strange, I turned 30 last year and got bumped out of the 18-29 cat 1 and into 29-39 cat 1 group. I had a ho-hum run that I low-sided in and was expecting to get tossed to the back of the pack, 3rd place. I felt like a sand bagger.
Hahaha! Sorry about that, we generally like to pet dogs rather than run screaming by them, but we had a team mate who needed "motivation"

Anyone know the actual BB height on this beast, the geometry chart in the owner's manual lists it at 14.2 " to 14.5" but the on the Intense web site it's listed at 13.75"??
You could always measure it, assuming that since you have an owners manual you own one. I would just go ride it and tell people the numbers you think sound best. No one really cares anyway, they're too busy being jealous of your bike

The owner's manual can be downloaded right off the Intense site but differs in some regards to the specs with the actual geometry chart on the web site.
Just put a tape on mine and got 13.8125" (13-13/16") as accurately as I could try to measure by myself. I would be curious to compare dynamic (on the bike) measurements with my SS (which I loooove).

what kind of grease is recommended to use with the zirk fittings?
I personally like Phil Wood grease. Stik is it ok to use the Phil Wood?
Needle tip like that is fine, as is PW grease...every man should own PW grease.
got another 15 runs in at the local shuttle spot on a gorgeous 60* day...the bike is still performing better than i ever thought and hoped for. my biggest surprise was the ability to pedal in super rocky sections and not worry about catching a pedal and crashing. this was my #1 "complaint" with the Revolt. i was worried about running 170mm cranks since those seemed too long on my Revolt, but they seem to be the perfect length for me.
i ran the bike in the 8.5" travel setting, middle progression, middle G3 setting and .5* headset cup. for the trails around here this setup is pretty spot on but i think when i get to a real mountain, i will shorten the wheelbase up and slacken the HT angle again. i also feel the 8.5" travel will be more than enough for me too, though i will still play around with the travel settings.
the bike is very snappy and yet very planted to the ground. im still trying to learn how it performs while jumping, but i suck at jumping so it will take some time im sure.
i recently upgraded to Formula The One brakes and learned with the immense stopping power they have, you can brake later before the turn and just lean the bike over and still have the bike stick to the turn. i also found that the bike is very predictable while drifting the bike around the turn, even with both wheels sliding.
i have zero complaints with the bike and 100% happy with it. i havent ridden a VPP DH bike since my '02 V10 (which i loved,) so getting back on another that performs so well makes me giddy.
i did develop a little squeak from the lower pivots and noticed a bit of grease had weeped out from the bearings. i think a shot of grease in there should make that go away.
edit: never say "last run of the day" too. broken parts (or body parts) always seem to follow. i broke my X7 derailluer off at the mount to the frame somehow. i break a lot of derailluers, but never one at this point. i never noticed the tiny little set screw hidden around that part and it seemed to break right there.

How are your running your CCDB? Lots of low speed or not so much?
ill have to go back and check my setup notes, but i believe CC recommend starting at 14clicks in and i believe i opened it up by 2 clicks.
i thought i was having "issues" with the LSR being too fast doing the ol' parking lot test, but as usual, the shock performed very different while actually riding.

Lovin the bike. I only have 1 previous DH bike to compare with, that being a 951. So in comparison the M9 rides, quieter, seems to want to stand up more in the corners but not in a bad way as it is still more stable and gives you something to push against, more controlled through the chunder, playfull but not as poppy (I think my 951 was a little oversprung though). Set up in the short CS, 9-1/2", most progressive, slackest HA. The quietness and feeling of control make it an awesome ride.
Update on the rear shock/linkage XL THE Neoprene Mudflap. It is working better than the plastic fender I had made and has not torn after 1 month of my hack riding in mud n' rox. I ended up cutting of the middle velcro strap at the bottom as it rubbed on the 2.35 Muddy Marys in the short drop out setting. Other than that, spend $20 and slap it on the bike!

I heard that the build kit that will be supplied with the M9 will be the exact same kit as that is supplied on the 951...
The 951 kit shows smaller rotors (6") on the brakes. I don't think I know anyone that runs the smaller brake rotors. I wonder if that's true for a full blown DH bike kit. Doesn't seem quite adequate. Definitely not for me.
