decline is a very good mag, also check out DIRT
I agree, DECLINE and Dirt are the best mags out there for DH, DJ, and FR in my opinion. Never been too big of a fan of Dirt Rag, Bike, or Mountain Bike Action.

#1 Decline: Excellent overall

#2 Bike: Great art direction and info.

#87 Dirt Rag: I rode with two of their writers and they were really whiny and the magazine design is the worst out there.

I have not picked up a mountain bike magazine in a LONG time. Somehow I now have a subscription of "Bicycling" getting delivered to me. I know I am not paying for it, so I have no idea how or why that started up. That magazine is only good for one quick thumb through during a crap session.

I do enjoy my copy of our local association's monthly newsletter.

Performance is giving it to me. I don't have any mtb magazines except for MBA (which sucks) when I pick them up at the shop after the title has been cut. I only buy them when I fly. I buy porn the rest of the time.

Hmmm....do you have a Team Performance membership? I do, and that may explain it. Damn, had I know buying a Team Performance membership would result in this punishment, I would not have signed up.

Yes - that is why you are getting it.

Asking for the best magazine is like asking for the best tire. The question is meaningless without knowing where your interests are. Personally, I like Dirt Rag. I'm an XC rider who favors SS and find I can relate to the reviews, photography, and articles. I tried Modest Bike and while the photgraphers are very skilled, but I found the overall subject matter of the book boring and repetitive. Not my scene, but I can see where someone into DJ, FR, and UA riding would really dig it.

So, throw us a bone...what do you ride? If the answer is "a bit of everything," get ready to buy a couple of subscriptions because I have yet to come across any one mag that covers everything well. :)
