My coworkers bike has these brakes and they are dragging heavily on the rotors. Power isn't that great either. My suggestion is get new brakes and bail them on ebay, any better uggestions?

It seems like the post mount brakes (avid/Hayes) are a lot better for getting that disc rub adjusted out.

Go to the Magura web site, download the users guide. That should assist with proper set up. I run Magura disc brakes exclusivley, and have had no problems.

The Clara's aren't bad, but they are far from the best that Magura has to offer. I swear by the Martas...

Clara's are single piston only; the inboard side stays fixed, positioned 1mm from the rotor. The outboard side actually flexes the rotor onto the fixed piston when the lever is pulled.

You want to use the inboard pad adjuster (5mm hex key on inside - center) to move the pad to the 1mm mark. Take up as much "slack" space as you can using the outboard adjuster (5mm hex key on outside - center).

As with all other IS mounting systems, shims will play a key part here. It may be necessary to shim the caliper towards the wheel, or conversely it may be necessary to shim the rotor out towards the fork.

Part of the lack of power can be twofold:
1. plastic levers - alot of flex
2. wrong oil - rebleed with Magura "Royal Blood"

Hope that helps, even if it is a bit late...
