I have a Cannondale Jekyll 1000 2003 with Magura Marta brakes on it. The brake lever has alot of play in it. When I brake the lever sometimes touches my grips on the handle bars. Is this suppose to happen when I brake? I don't ever recall my brake lever touching my grips. I ride alot and never had an issue. I have to pump the lever a few times to get to work correctly. What do I do about this matter? This is rear brake by the way. I need some real advice on this issue. I will not ride this bike if brake lever is not working correctly. Remember it's only a year or so old. I'm wondering if it needs to be rebleed or the lever needs to be replaced. If you can help let me know. I have no idea why this is happening. The front brake works great with no play ever. Thanks!

Have you tried bleeding it? That would be the first step, you might have some air in the system. We just had the Magura rep come in and show us how to bleed those things at the shop and it's a pretty easy task to do. If you need some instructions lemme know.

Edit: dirty beat me to it

I was told there was Magura mini-service kit. Where can I get one? Can I get through Magura or at my local bike shop? Those instructions would be a great help for the future. Please let me have them. My bike is now at the shop being looked at. Thanks for all your help.

I see your in kent, if you don't mind the drive I'm almost certain we have some service kits at the shop. I work at the greggs greenlake store, call them up and see first though, you wouldn't wanna drive all that way to find out we don't have any service kits.

Have you gotten your bike back yet?

I'm curious to see what the problem was. I shortened the line on my rear marta sl and been having the same problem!! I have bled @ least 10 times, and getting sick of lever to the grips. My front still has excellent power. I even followed instructions on Magura Cult page.

Got the bike back and they told me the rotor is fine but not certain. So I was told to put on new brake pads. My front is soild. It's the rear that gives me troubles. Otherwise I'm very happy with them. They said they couldn't understand why the lever was hitting the grips. I must have had lots of air in the line for this to happen. Let's just hope everything works out.
