Does anybody know if the Avid hose fitting will fit a Magura caliper? I know that both brakes use different fluids.

No, the big Magura fitting is of a bigger diameter/coarser thread.
The smaller Magura fitting might be of the correct diameter but the thread on that differs also.
Easy fix: Buy a Magura kit, and a pair of extra o-rings to fit over the fittings to seal things up better.
