The White House attempted to block Fox News from a round of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg Thursday, but the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks included in the White House pool refused to interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included.
Letting Fox do its business and laughing at 'em is a great idea.

Stopping them from doing their business is unconstitutional at worse.

Where do you draw the line?
Should Daily Show and Colbert correspondents be allowed in there?
It's one thing for reporters or analysts of an organization to have a particular slant... but promoting conservatism as an organizational philiosophy of an entire news organization? How is that ethical, and why should the White House have to cater to someone whose chief goal is to slander them to further an agenda?

The Bush admin did a similar thing by only giving access to media outlets that supported them. More so by just giving front row seats and only answering questions by supporters. Remember the Jeff Gannon thing? (White house correspondants with 20 years experience were never called on to ask questions but Gannon a conservative who ran a gay porn website was allowed to ask Bush questions)

Either way it is sad to see the current amdin try the same stuff. It would be funny if they are trying to enrage Fox news to the point where they become some partisan that they further marginalize themselves from the general public.

I was reading an article that I now can't find that was talking about the problem with Fox News. It basically said that there were multiple news agencies that had strong bias one way or the other and that wasn't really a bad thing. The difference with Fox is that it isn't independent. Other agencies may be liberal but they are independent from any liberal political groups. The guy running Fox is basically in the back pocket of the GOP and will on request not report things that make the GOP look bad.

Obama should give Fox News an exclusive interview. And tell them everything they want to hear, but finish it with LOL:

-I was born in Zimbabwe LOL!

-I am a socialist, communist nazi LOL!

-I support canceling all medical insurance and replacing it with voodoo LOL!

-I hate white people LOL!

-I am going to start a war with France LOL!

-...and China too! LOL!

-Glenn Beck didn't rape and murder a young girl in 1990, it was me! LOL!

Dude, they are just as much news as Faux. It was a stupid move by the white house for sure though. The tards at Faux are going to be screaming about being 1st ammendment martyrs and even I would have to argue they have a bit of a case. Dear god don't give those assholes anything that might be viewed as proof of all the crazy they talk. Its like giving renegade rick fuzzy pictures of big foot.

It does set a scary precedent (blackballing an entire organization) so I fully understand the reaction of the other news agencies, but again, at what point does a news agency, like Fox or MSNBC lose legitimacy?
It is well-accepted that FN is nothing but a Republican bullhorn... look at their primetime lineup. Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc. These are not people with any interest in spreading accurate information. No better than Stewart or Colbert. Is Comedy Central a legitimate news agency?

Freedom of the press.
Which refers to not regulating the actual press (the equipment.) It doesn't mean that anyone who calls himself a reporter is guaranteed access at to an interview. Did you ever see Glenn Greenwald get an interview with Cheney or Bush regarding torture?

The executive branch jamming signals to the Fox satellites would infringe on freedom of the press. Denying a reporter an interview is not.

Might be worth checking to see if Bush pushing Helen Thomas to the back of the room got any mention on Fox over those 8 years...

True, but your going to have problems saying that someone you've been letting in the press room all year all the sudden isn't really a "reporter" anymore. It looks funny. Not ha-ha funny, and contributes to the paranoia of the tinfoil hat crowd. They just need to make the tards sit in the back of the short bus and put them on "ignore". You know that Faux will play it as a freedom of the press, thats all I'm saying.

*edit, I just noticed you edited your post. The Helen Thomas thing is a good question.

F*ck, I wouldnt be able to concentrate either if I had to stare at that rancid old hag right there in the front row all the time. No wonder Bush was always fumbling and stumbling when he talked. He was trying to hold back his vomit.

You would have to first consider Fox news as an actual news organization. I would say The Daily Show is a far more reliable source thus far.
