Making a Choice..

Ok, i recently bought an Iron horse sinister..but I also want a FS..one that i can use for trailriding and XC..so I go back to the same store..and see an iron horse ginsu for $1399 canadian new..kinda crazy...it has the same part spec as the sinister ( LX/deore, husselfelt crankset, hayes discs etc) except it has a manitou black elite 5" fork on the front..i rode it and i loved it..

there was also a K2 Fs...k2 attack or something..it had the same parts as the ginsu more or less ( shimano Alivio crankset instead of truvativ) but it had Avid Mechs instead of Hayes..same price....which one is a better choice??..I dont want to go anywhere else because for $1399 i wont get a bike nearly as nice..the reason why is because this place is a sporting goods store..not a bike shop..so they can afford to sell them at cost ( thats what they're doing, just to get rid of them). Although they are a sporting goods store, they have a few nice bikes at amazing prices. So i want to stick to those 2 bikes..which one is a better choice?

Here is a pic of the Ginsu..

Oops..the K2 is a "launch 4.0" here is the pic

It has lx/deore, alivio crankset, avid mechs manitou black comp 80/100.

Ginsu has Lx/deore, truvativ husselfelts, hayes mechs, black elite

I'm really leaning towards the Ginsu..but maybe its the wrong choice?
Thanks

Must be shopping at sportcheck? ;)

Ok this depends on the riding you intend to do they are both different duallies. If you intend to do more xc than I would think the K2 would be better. If you wanna try some downhill and get a good start the ironhorse may be best.

Most of the components are similar. Personally I prefer (strongly) the AVID disks over hayes. But really that is a small issue.

From what you have described I think the K2 is a better choice.

Well..i'll be using it for general trail riding ( hard trails) and freeriding..the k2 looks pretty beefy at the headtube..so i thought maybe it would be good for both.

It is beefy but the suspension won't feel like much...just by the way it is designed. Excellent for xc (probably not very reactive) while the ironhorse will probably suck up some of your pedaling power.

Jesus...if they are going to spec Alivio, they may as well put that money into a good ISIS BB and leave the cranks on. Seems very out of place in that spec, to me.
