Mallet DH pedals instead of Mallet E for trail?

Has anyone here switched from the Mallet E to the DH pedal on their trail bike because they wanted a little more stability and contact with their feet? I figure I could just get the DH pedals and swap out the axles to keep the spacing of the E's.

I have 4 pairs of the DH version and have them on all my bikes, except for the fat bike. Not very light, but they work and provide a good enough platform if shit hits the fan. I haven't broken any yet and got them for pretty cheap on sale. Rebuilt the old pair last year after one of them stopped spinning freely.

I've smacked my E's a bunch and they've held up well. I did get a set of DH's and swapped out the pedal bodies with the axles still in the cranks. Super easy. As for extra footing area, yeah it does feel like the shoe is more planted on the pedal while climbing and general trail riding but that might be my brain saying "hey new part so it must be better".
