Looks like Nationals could have been held up there after all. Bummer, would have rather gone to watch real mtn biking, not hill riding like in Sonoma.

Isn't that called "Shock Therapy"?
One of my favorite trails there. Craaaazy fast!
Nope, Shock Treatment is before that X-zone. That's the junction of Kamikaze and the X-zone.

What's the trail with all the ladders? Something new? I don't recognise it.

I'm so pumped! I'm heading out from the 19th to the 26th of August. I'm the kid on the black Demo 8. Say hi if you see me.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

By the looks of it, they ruined one of the sweetest/hardest sections on the mountain.

Is this the branch off of Kamikaze (go straight instead of turning left)? Where it used to be a series of nice, steep, loose, technical drops?

Looks like it to me and I'm dissapointed.
I like ladder bridges and all, but not when they are built over what would otherwise be sweet terain. It just doesn't make sense. :mumble: :mumble: :bomb:  :mumble:

Oh weak I think you're right. :mumble: That used to be sweet into that chute...

I hope it's a new trail somewhere else.

I beleive you are correct... and I agree. Ladders should be used to enhance the technical features, not simplify them.

Damn I was skiing there three weeks ago.

And one year ago I was eating bark off the trees where they put those new bridges.

I must be the tool they built those for. :D
Along with the 90% of the other people up there...

Yeah but once you got it down it was fun i think...even though i was only there for a lil when they had the drops..

I saw some pics when they first opened that line. Pretty small ledges that looked fully rollable.

by the time I got there during norba finals last year they were like 2 foot drops into totally pitted out sand. It was like pedal kicks to deal with the turns and ledges.

I felt accoplished and all but still thought it was kind of lame, mostly just because it's right off kamikaze and that first little speed double and you had to slow down a lot.. Now it looks like kiddie stuff though. Maybe it was better. Maybe I'm just a whiner.

Regardless, I'll be there in two weekends.:D

Thanks for the pics. I'm actually kind of excited now. Any sign of the new trails the website claims?

I ate shlt hard the first time I tried to ride through there.
Orven and TYM would have had the same fate but luckily on our first day, each time we got to that section on ST, they had to stop, walk and pass by people mangled at the bottom of the "drops."

But you are correct about the section that changed a lot. First, it was roller, then became a mini drop, then on our last weekend, they put all these logs..then the runouts (ie: sandboxes) got deeper and deeper..woopee

Originally, we thought it was fun bwec it reminded us of that one section on Dog Bone... mmm N*

In late Aug, we're there.

IMO Chain Smoke is a much harder then Shock T...Even when Shock T had the drops the rest of it was not to difficault...aside from the rock you can roll into a drop....i dont like sliding down bricks...but Chian Smoke is hard i think like that huge ass scary roller then I HAD TO WALK:o: ...

But they set a deadline of having everything open by the 15th and it wasnt....only the lower mtn and Kamakize and Off The top were open from the top and from Mid (McCoy) only Volocity and Chain Smoke....but for part of the last day i was there Chain Smoke was closed.........but boy-o-boy is lower bullet fun.

Siiick! It looks like I'll probably be there in two weekends too. (first weekend of Aug). I just got invited by a brewer friend of mine and apparently there is some sort of beer fest that weekend.

I'm on a bare-aluminum Sunday w/888 all Roco'd out. Say hi. I'll bake you some cookies.

I will never turn down cookies.

I'll keep an eye out. Raw sunday shouldn't be hard to miss. I'll either be on a black dhr or a black uzzi vpx, black helmet, black knee pads, black soul etc. Yell kevin or something.

I've actually got to go down there for work this coming week. I usually climb up to chainsmoke or lower velocity after the hill closes for a lap or two. P.steelers pics look like enough info to justify bringing the hella freeride bike.

Hey scrimp......those pics are funny. Imagine some of those logs missing and about another foot of scour at the bottom. That's what it looked like by the time the hill closed last year. Where the logs went I have no idea. Mammoth souveniers?
