Headed to the lift...
I am all for doing whatever it takes to fix NORBA.

Some of my biggest complaints about NORBA is the cost. Smaller races are fine, it is the nationals that just get to be to expensive for the amount of riding you get. At Mt. Snow I drove 9 hours arrived Friday morning, practiced for 4 hours, then sat around. Saturday had a couple more hours of practice, then Sunday had my race run. Three days and only had about 6-8 hours of available riding??? The entry fee was $50 if I remember correctly.

I attended the Canada Cup race at Bromont in the spring. $50 Canadian and this gave me a lift ticket good for all day Fri. Sat. and Sun. I did not feel rushed getting all my practice runs. If I had a mechanical I did not feel the pressure to get it fixed as fast as possible.

I was also at the U.S. open this year. $75 dollars got me the same amount of riding time as Bromont as long as I qualified for the finals. The race course was only open for practice at certain times, but the remainder of the mountain could be ridden. The higher entry fee was acceptable when you considered what you could possibly win.

What is the biggest reason we attended races? We are there to ride and race our bikes. I have no problem with limited practice time on the race course due to a high number of riders. If there are other trails on the mountain why not let us ride? As of right now I will most likely not attend any national events next year. I am not going to Mammoth because the expense is not worth it(I did qualify). I will be going to races like the Bromont Canada Cup, U.S. Open, and the only NORBA will be Plattekill. Unfortuantely I will still have to buy a NORBA license but I will be getting a International license that I can use at races in Canada, so I do not feel my money is a total waste.
