More details. Pretty disgusting. A friend wrote me this "The Leprechaun Rapist got only 6mo because the could only convict him of 3rd degree rape. The paper said 1st degree rape is considered to be forcible rape."

At the trial, his victim testified that she and some girlfriends were bar-hopping when she encountered Comerford in Club W.

She said Comerford — dressed in the leprechaun outfit — approached her and said, “Kiss me, I’m Irish” and then bit her lip while trying to kiss her and force her to dance. The victim said Comerford twice asked her if she wanted to have sex and then forced her to a back room of the bar, covered her mouth to muffle her screams, threw her to the floor and raped her.

good thing it wasn't forcible rape:
The victim said Comerford twice asked her if she wanted to have sex and then forced her to a back room of the bar, covered her mouth to muffle her screams, threw her to the floor and raped her.

Yeah, I bet the defense brought up the fact it was an underage girl in a bar on St Patty's.

Front Range, dude...
WTF is a man thinking when he does something like that? I just dont understand it. I would rather go have a good wank thinking about how hot some chica was...and not deal with the ramifications, either jail time or getting rid of some girl who doesnt live up to your expectations.

Besides, jail time being known as the Leprechan rapist? Not going to be fun...

This is the first I heard of this story, but a couple of people I went to highschool with own and operate Club W, the bar where this happened. I used to go there on occasion before moving out of Buffalo, and I mentioned to them before that I didn't think it was a good idea to let in the under 21 crowd. The problem was they would end up serving the under 21 people as well, and I figured if they ever got busted it would not end well.

Edit: not that that has anything to do with what happened, but it does explain why an 18 year old girl was at the bar. It is legal to allow 18+ people at bars in Buffalo as long as they are not served alcohol. The guy is still a total scumbag and I agree the sentence is too light for the crime.

I must spread rep to Jimmydean.

And I must quote Bob:

William Zanzinger killed poor Hattie Carroll
With a cane that he twirled around his diamond ring finger
At a Baltimore hotel society gath'rin'.
And the cops were called in and his weapon took from him
As they rode him in custody down to the station
And booked William Zanzinger for first-degree murder.
But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Take the rag away from your face.
Now ain't the time for your tears.

William Zanzinger, who at twenty-four years
Owns a tobacco farm of six hundred acres
With rich wealthy parents who provide and protect him
And high office relations in the politics of Maryland,
Reacted to his deed with a shrug of his shoulders
And swear words and sneering, and his tongue it was snarling,
In a matter of minutes on bail was out walking.
But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Take the rag away from your face.
Now ain't the time for your tears.

Hattie Carroll was a maid of the kitchen.
She was fifty-one years old and gave birth to ten children
Who carried the dishes and took out the garbage
And never sat once at the head of the table
And didn't even talk to the people at the table
Who just cleaned up all the food from the table
And emptied the ashtrays on a whole other level,
Got killed by a blow, lay slain by a cane
That sailed through the air and came down through the room,
Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle.
And she never done nothing to William Zanzinger.
But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Take the rag away from your face.
Now ain't the time for your tears.

In the courtroom of honor, the judge pounded his gavel
To show that all's equal and that the courts are on the level
And that the strings in the books ain't pulled and persuaded
And that even the nobles get properly handled
Once that the cops have chased after and caught 'em
And that the ladder of law has no top and no bottom,
Stared at the person who killed for no reason
Who just happened to be feelin' that way without warnin'.
And he spoke through his cloak, most deep and distinguished,
And handed out strongly, for penalty and repentance,
William Zanzinger with a six-month sentence.
Oh, but you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Bury the rag deep in your face
For now's the time for your tears.

Have I ever mentioned how much I want to punch people in the throat when they put song lyrics into forum threads?

Of course you're the only one here who could take that punch, turn it around and make me lobotomize myself.

But still.............

wait...

are you suggesting that a law to protect someone was actually used against them?

no that can't be it.

must have just been the connectedness of the perp.
Hahaha.

A friend of mine was raped near where this happened. By knifepoint.

Sorry if people thought I think this matter is funny in some way.

Does this mean we can't make jokes about it being a shorter sentence for leprechauns?

I can only hope that if this guy committed the acts described, a 6-month sentence puts him out on the streets to face some more tangible consequences quickly. Like being run over by a bus after leaving the hospital for treatment after being gang-raped by a pack of rhinos with a goatse fetish.
