Washington artist Kayti Didriksen's painting 'Man of Leisure, King George' depicts President Bush (news - web sites) in the well-known style of Manet's 'Olympia', as he is presented with his crown by a depiction of Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites). The cartoonish painting has been taken down from the wall at the City Museum of Washington, awaiting a more welcoming venue. (AP Photo/Artomatic, Jim Tretick)

Meh, that's pretty weak, in that it's just blatant and simple. Nothing really cutting in it.

Now, I saw a painting at the Getty today called, I think, "Jesus Entering Brussels, 1889," which was perhaps the most amazingly cutting piece of political art I've ever seen, and I usually don't like overtly political art.

Getty's an awesome fvcking museum...a little too cathedral-like for me; definitely changes the context of a lot of modern work to be shown there (heck, even the ancient stuff...the Greeks' old baby rattles are suddenly granted some rarified-even moreso than usual- aspect by being shown there). But it is amazing to visit...almost made that trip to LA worthwhile (aside from the job interview part...)

Kashalpynya, 35, of the Korubo Indian tribe of the Javari Valley in the Amazons dances in front of a poster in favor of American presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) in downtown Brasilia on Friday, Oct. 10, 2004. He said, 'Kerry is love, is understanding, is peace. Bush is bad.'' Kashalpynya has been Brasilia for three months fighting for the legalization of his tribe's lands. (AP Photo/Eraldo Peres)

Never trust a brazilian tribesman with a non traditional headset and basketball shorts. I guess they get the "Fair and Balanced" view out there in the rainforest though, huh?

are you sure that's not eastern tennessee?
Please. We all know the chances of finding a Kerry sign in the Amazon are FAR higher than finding one in Eastern Tennessee.

Are we gonna get a run-down of your journeys this summer or have I missed it?
