I just heard about this, unbelievable, I hope they take care of it while its in their possession, a holes:

If any painting could express its opinion about being stolen, while being stolen, Edvard Munch's "The Scream" is surely the one. Late Sunday morning, armed robbers broke into the Munch Museum in Oslo and took "The Scream" and Munch's "Madonna." The security cordon the thieves had to run was not overwhelming. There were apparently no safeguards at all, beyond wires that attached the paintings to the wall. When they were broken, it set off an alarm that was every bit as soundless as the scream in "The Scream."

AND I read that is wasn't insured AT ALL.

They said something about it being priceless and they were unable to determine an amount to insure it for. Seems like they would've PROTECTED it a little better.

Idiots.

'uh, we had it wired'

or or

'we did not mean to kill all the elk caribou wolves and indigeouninininous peoples up there.... i mean what harm can a pipe do?'

a few more facts.
This is the second time "the scream" has been stolen in 10 years.
Previously the theives held it for ransom and when nobody paid, they simply returned it. Authorities believe these guys are going to have a tough time selling it because of it's popularity....

jest da faks mam.

I know...who's gonna buy it...and then they'll get busted if they try to collect ransom...what a bunch of tools. I just hope they don't do anything stupid like accidentally sit on it or something and trash it...

For those who don't have daily updates of norwegian news:

The paintings were insured, but not for theft, only for damages caused to them inside the museum, fire etc.

Supposedly the thieves have now sold the two paintings to an unknown(doh) buyer for 1 million NOK, which would be the equivalent of ca 150 000 USD$
