So, I'm really stoked to ride the new Sherman Breakout fork while at Interbike. I think a single-crown fork with adjustable 5 or 6 inches of travel is the ultimate for lightweight versatility.

The only bummer is I will have to get a new frame to accomodate the 1.5 steerer :nopity:

The good news is that I have heard from Turner, though it's unverified, that they will be making at least the RFX in a 1.5 head-tube. Once that's announced, I'll have a 2002 Turner RFX w/6" of travel up for sale... anyone want to stand in line for it?

Anyway, has anyone seen or ridden the new Shermans yet? I love Marzocchi's, so I'm a bit skeptical of Manitou, but the Sherman seems like the ticket.

Any other opinions on the Shermans?

I've got a good bit of riding on my Firefly (1.125, 5" travel, qr drop-outs) and have been very impressed. Even without the 20mm axle, it's stiff as hell both tortionally and fore-aft, really point and shoot through rock gardens and the like. The stroke is smooth and progressive. If I had to find fault, it could be the slightest bit more compliant on small, slow hits, but practically that's really a non-issue. On hard hits and at high speed it really shines. It ramps up nicely at the end of its travel and inspires all kinds of confidence. The compression adjustment is iffy, but the rebound adjust gives nice range. The travel adjust is great for climbing, and makes the fork unbelievably stiff --great for djs and messing around. And the best part: it's black, and the stickers, tasteful as they are, come off with no mess!
