yup
the other day I decided to tear down my '02 DHR to give it some serious lovin'

and as I'm putting the bike together today I realize that I've never really figured out how to tighten down the 20mm axle on my fork.
Granted it's been working great for almost a year, but what is the correct procedure?

Manitou's decided they don't wanna post manuals for any other lines of forks than what they currently offer, and I bought the thing "used" (read: had been sitting in the parts bin for 3 years) hence, no printed manual

blahblahblah..

Give me the poop on how it's done properly! :thumb:

Keep the 2 pinch bolts on the screw in insert side tight, install the axel and then tighten the 2 bolts on the "head" side of the axel. Reverse for undoing.

NOTE:- the threaded insert in the axel head can come undone meaning you can't get the axel out. It happened to me and i needed to hacksaw it out and get a new one, it's now just happened to my mate as well who is just going to let the tire wear out then get some new forks as you can't get the axel anymore.

pretty much the way I imagined it done, then. thanks

that axle/insert thing don't sound too good, why couldn't they have thought about that hexagonal axle thing a few years earlier? I love my stupid-light DH-fork
