I think it just has to do with them pulling up really hard and cranking at the same time, the front end just comes up. It also probably helps them get the full turn they need. I dont do it so Im only guessing

When you pull up on the exit of a turn, you can use the back wheel to turn the rest of the way. That's one reason, also like it was said before, when you go to pedal out of the turn, it's easier to get stronger cranks in when your pullin real hard on the bike, which results in the front wheel comin up. It's a typical race technique a lot of pros use. Just pedalin as hard as you can out of the turn, to get as much speed for the straight.

1. It squares off the turn. 2.It gives you pedal clearance while cranked over(so your pedals don't dig and you eat crap!)
