So, lovebunny and i went to lunch today, and across the road was a Trek Superstore. I had just gotten out of volleyball, so, i didn't have my shirt on...We were just about to walk in when i mentioned that they didn't have a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" sign on their door in a comical way. We LOLed.
Cruising around the store, looking at their lack of downhill bikes, and admiring the Session77, when i heard from a mechanic, "hey, you have a shirt you could put on? Come on, this is a family establishment." I asked him if he was serious and he gave me this, "you're retarded" look...As we were getting escorted out, we took our time and walked around the store again looking at all the Session77's and their beautiful powdercoating..That bastard roadie ruined my Trekxperience...

uh, walking around in public without a shirt on is gross. nobody thinks you are as hot as you do. I would have made you leave too.

c'mon woman, we weren't hurting anyone, we weren't making a ruckus like we usually do...just politely drooling on over-rated pieces of metal.

plus this isnt even about that. it was that the guy was being a dick for no reason. he was like "hey im sure you own a shirt, go put it on! this is a family establishment" the store also didnt have any other customers in it and it was 12:30pm. we also walked right by the manager and were in the store for at least 7 minutes before the guy said anything

That's what you get for being shirtless AND shopping for a Trek.

Pick one dumb activity at a time.

You knew the rule, you broke the rule, and they threw you out?

Wow, is there a lawsuit pending?

I think the shop guy sensed that ball licking was imminent, and acted accordingly.

It is common sense, you shouldn't need to be told that.
I'm gonna agree with Lovebunny on this one... in SoCal, by the beach it is very common to run around without shirts. Including going into stores. If you have a store by the beach, especially in a place like SD you really need to put the "No shirt, No shoes, No service" sign there. I think the exception would be restaurants.

But then you all did go into a trek store run by roadies while you two are fat lazy foul mouthed smelly downhillers.

Well, frankly it seems to be combination of common sense and customer service.

If you are steaming and dripping, you should put on a t-shirt before entering a store. That should be pretty obvious. If you are dry, many places is still is probably a bad idea to go in shirtless.

How salespeople handle this is another thing. For some reason, I can only remember the shop I worked at in NYC. There were plenty of urban roadies, who come in with just a pair of lyrca shorts. My shop was particularily assh*lish, so we give you dirty looks until you figured it out. But we never threw anyone either.

Trek has their own stores?
They are trying for the Superstore approach: Trek-only brands (GF/Klein). Even regular Trek dealers they are trying to muscle in to carrying only Trek.

And they make the best mountain bikes anyway...

Seriously, I had no idea they had their own retail stores. We don't have any chain bicycle stores in the NE...not that I know of, anyway.

There is a shop in Redwood City, Chain Reaction Bicycles. They are a Trek-only shop (but not a "Superstore"). The owner seemed very happy carrying only Trek brands, but not surprisingly, I would say the high end bikes were 90/10 road/mtn. They did not have the Session, and the owner wasn't sure at first what I was talking about.

P.S. I wore a shirt.

I was kidding.

I used to work at a Trek dealer, but we had a few other brands at least.

Landshark, Pinarello, Bianchi, Calfee, SOMA, etc.

All Trek? That's like the vanilla of bike stores.

Whatever, shop guy sounds like a weenie but from what you said, you were just killing time and weren't gonna buy anything anyway. Maybe they sensed that and didn't want you wasting THEIR time by making them keep an eye on you, etc.

And it's kind of annoying to hear you complain when you knew it might be a problem and went in there anyway, most likely with a chip on your shoulder.
