A 21 year old girl in Reno was CONVICTED of killing a motorcycle cop because the labs had proven that she burned the morning of the accident.

BYW: When the cop hit her he was going over 100 mph, no lights, no siren, not even on a call. But hey you smoked weed 9 hours ago so it's your fault. I went to the trial that poor girl got ****ed.
About 10 years ago around here, a guy was running from the cops. He was near the police station (Seattle north precinct) and ran a stop sign, hitting a car and killing the driver. The driver was not wearing a seat belt. This is at a time when they had either just passed a seat belt law, or started to highly enforce it (can't remember, memories too smoky...). At the trial the defense had testimony from experts saying the driver probably wouldn't have been killed had they been wearing a seat belt.
The driver was a cop that had just left work - off duty and in his personal car. The fact that the person killed was a cop played a part in the sentence he recieved.
Whacha guna do???

Does this count towards the off topic competition?

Why do people feel they must reply w/ those typical/tired lame ass remarks?
Enough w/ the negative reply! Post an answer or S.T.F.U.
I was unaware that Paki's were capable of being so funny.

totally agree on the whole dead horse thing, but why do you think that it's the UCIs job to enforce the law? should they set up speed traps with radar guns at the entrances to events to disqualify pros that are driving too fast? ban pros who made a mistake on their tax form? how about pros that consume alcohol in public/underage? lots of things are illegal but I don't see the UCI doing a damn thing about punishing pros for doing illegal things that aren't drug related...
From the rental car footage I see in the videos alone, seems like half the pros would get penalized.......

I never ceases to amaze me how many racers complain about the lack of respect given them and how they're not taken seriously, and then turn around an argue that it should be perfectly ok to use an illegal substance.
well said....D

That's the same argument that I was thinking of. If the UCI sets guidlines that go beyond "Performance Enhancing" drugs, than they have set us down a slippery slope with no way of ever being able to say "when."

I think it's not just about performance enhancing, but perception altering... and speeding doesn't alter your perception... well, not until you approach the speed of light, anyway.

One of the main effects of THC is whats reffered to as tunnel vision.
I find the most powerful effect pot has on me is that it allows me to focus very intensely on a single task.

For example If I'm stoned I'll do a very speedy job of washing the dishes, significantly more so than usual. BUT, if I'm trying to also have a conversation while washing up the conversation is going to go all over the place.

I find that riding skinnies is easier stoned than straight. For me skinnies require loads of focus, when I have the focus I can ride them if I'm not totally focused I fall off. Pot gives you tunnel vision which is essentially greater focus, IMO its helps my riding, might not help eveyones though.

This is probably why canadians are so good at riding skinnies, LOL.

At the end of the day though I dont think THC should NOT be tested for or banned from DH. I doubt any competitor would seriously use THC as a performance enhancement. Unless you are a hardened pot head you'll probably just be too out of it to gain any benifit from the tunnel vision. Smoking pot, smoking anything is hard on the lungs which is a big draw back for serious cometitors and eating pot (eg space cakes) really effects motor skills (like alchohol does).

The other thing to consider is most of the competitors that get busted for weed probably werent riding stoned. They probably had smoked the night or even the week before the race. THC takes months to leave the system, it will be picked up in a test months after your last smoke. The stereo-typical slow moron pot head is actually stoned all the time (hence the slowness) as they never give their system enough time to get rid of all the THC.

I dont think anyone would feel cheated if they lost to someone who smoked a bowl before their race run.
