Hello - I've got a RM Slayer 30, I think it's an 07, bought it last year and I think it was the previous year model. Anyway, it's the all white one with a white oem 55 up front.

Anyway, the 55 now only gets 4" of travel. I'm not sure when this began, because I had it setup kind of stiff for awhile and probably didn't bottom it that much. In any case, it's not a metal-to-metal bottom out, it's more like a hydraulic lock once I get to around 4".

A guy at a local shop said that the problem was common in the oem, no bells and whistles models of 55's and 66's. He called it "hydro-lock" and suggested that I just send it in.

I'm not a "just send it in" kind of guy - because most of the time, the solution to a problem is fairly simple as long as you're willing to get your hands dirty. If this is something I could fix with a simple rebuild, I'd be interested in getting the details if anyone is experienced with this problem. If I can get it working again I will probably end up selling it because I'm used to a quality-feeling fork and this is definitely not that...what happened Marzocchi?:D

I have done complete overhauls of many older Marzocchi forks including my 01 Monster T, many Z-1's, Super T's, etc - so it's not my first rodeo here folks...

Thanks for any input!

To the best of my knowledge you can get the seal kits that are needed, but if you send it in then it's a warranty issue. Granted it will take a long time, but at least it will return in warranty as well.

Marz had a big quality issue with their forks those years, you may be able to get them to send you a cartridge, swap it, and send the old one back. Probably worth contacting them.

Cool, do you know if I could upgrade the cartridge to something better? I have an '06 66RC2X, and I am very happy with its performance on my Bullit. If I could get the same feel out of my 55 I'd be very happy with it as well - it would probably be worth the money.
