i have recently purchased a zoke z150 fr sl and have discoverd that you can not use an azonic headlock with this fork. it seems the alum steer tube has an internal taper(for added strength i guess). has anybody else run across this?

We ran into this when ordering my bike from Go-Ride. I sent them pics of the new '05 Z1 that I had and its I.D. They said that it probably won't fit. I haven't physically tried it but you say you did?

If that's the case then I'd take some pictures and send them to Go-Ride and Azonic showing this. I'm sure they'd like to have this info on file about this issue.

i think the steer tube has an inside diameter taper where it is pressed into the fork crown. most likely for strength. not a big issue but makes sense for a 6" single crown fork with an alloy steer tube.

yes i did! the top cap fits fine, the female threaded end piece's diameter is to big to fit up inside the steer tube where it is pressed into the fork crown. i guess i have to go back to the star nut!

A Woodman should work. I think that they are cheaper as well. They also have a much nicer "one size fits all" design

ennnnh. nope. i bought a woodman for my 04 zocchi Z-1, and it doesn't fit. same problem the original poster has.

how is the quality on the USE version? any web retailers stock that in the US?

Same problem with my '03 Monster crowns. I ended up ordering a Woodman in the 1" size and run it upside down. Works great! It was the only solution that seemed to work. The 1" top cap fits the bottom of the steerer tube quite nicely when used upside down - only about 1/16" gap. I tried doing this with a Headlock (upside down) and it stuck down a little too much towards the tire for my taste. But the Woodman worked. I even called Marzocchi to see if THEIR headlock-type device would work. Nope!?! Very smart thinking on their part.
