Structure wise I hear the new stance line-up will be the same as the shermans? If this is true, the forks will be very strong, but it seems manitous internals are more work to keep running smooth.
Ive been running a 03 Dj3 for a while now. Currently it has 04 z1 fr uppers and z1 fr sl lowers. Its common knowledge that the 03s were structurally flawed. Now i have some bushing play. Nothing horrible, but thats the way its worked out after almost a year of riding.
I have a 05 stance static heading my way as soon as manitou gets em. They are supposed to arrive around the 1st at answer then ship out. Structurally they are different than the shermans. The Stance line (from single crown to double crown) have steel stantions and the single crown ones have steel steerers aswell ( i dunno about the double crown one). The static that i am receiving will have fluid flow internals, hex thru axel and 100mm of travel. The lowers for the stance line look a little dulled down from the sherman line. The dropouts arnt as curvy and the arch isnt as stylish. I expect that the stance forks should be on par with the stregth of the shermans, and possibly even be stronger due to the steel stantions/steerer, and that they supposedly were designed for more urban assult/park/dj riding in mind. Ill try and remember to post some thoughts on the fork upon receiving it!
i got a stance static and the first day i rode it the seal popped off and i only had 15 psi in it. stupid manipoo shoulda gone with marzocchi but i got a deal, 150 for a new stance. someone told me to put locktight on the seal and then pop it down again but im not sure
the fork as manitou will tell you if you call needs a bout 6-10 hours of riding time and then it stiffens up and sinks into its travel, also the air assist is a very isolated problem and only is a problem on 100 or less forks

So, after the fork breaks in, it get stiffer, and sinks into its travel more.
Sweet, Manitou is using Magic in their forks now.
Maybe they have a "Liger" for their company mascot.
I've probably ridden my stance 15-20 hrs already. When i stand up it sits with like a n inch and a half of travel left. And it's not stiff yet. When will the magic be casted on mine?
With all these horror stories, I decided to call up and change from the Stance Static to the Sherman Jumper. Another deciding factor was that the static x-firm springs won't be in for atleast another month and there is no way i would ride the fork with stock spring seeing i'm a fat a** and i weight 220lbs
Good choice i wish i could get a sherman jumper in 110mm in camo. MMMMMMMMM but ill settle for ordering an air assist cap for my Stance and own that fork.
I'd take a Marz DJ over a Stace for sure. The Stance is filled with plastic, and is no where near the quality of the Marz DJ. Worth the extra $$ over the Stance.Change the oil-weight (5wt) in the Marzo, and it's a superb fork. (imo).
