some one know about SSV, SSVF and HSCV

what's the diffferences?

if i have a deal on a 2001 Z1 MCR (SSV?) should i take it, or is the extra cash for a 2002 Z1 freeride (HSCV) worth it

I dont know the specific tech, but did you check out their website?

ALso, whats the price difference? That alone may make the decision........I have a 01 mcr. Its great.

In general, Marzocchi makes two types of cartridges.

There's the Pumping rod style. A couple of offshoots of this exist today (like in the DJ1 and 2, etc), but they function basically the same. These are subject to compression spiking during hard hits and are not very adjustable.

Then there's the cartridge style. This is what both the '01 Z.1 MCR and '02 Z.1 FR have. These use a more advanced (for MTB stuff) shim style damper, and are more adjustable. The function of these is pretty good. I certainly prefer them to the pumping rod style dampers.

They made some valving changes for 2002, but as far as I know the damper layout and function remains similar to previous years.
