i went to a shop today, and asked for the cheapest 20mm hub i could get, that was still reasonable quality. Charles (Hammerhead Bikes), went to his comp, onto the BTI site, and recommended the Zoke hub for $62. i said that would work. now i remember the question i wanted to ask...

this hub can be used with a Manitou fork right; there ain't any weird spacing that QR20 uses? the QR20 axle that comes with it is useless to me, right?

QR20 hub is a strange one. My front wheel is built with one. the 20mm axle is integrated into the hub. I don't even know if they make them anymore. the newer ones are no different than any 20mm hub. They are actually suppossed to be really good hubs for the money.

I got Marzocchi 20mm hubs on both my bikes. They rock for cheap quality 20mm Hubs, alot better than most you see out there that are speced "cheap".

I got a black and a silver one :) For me all it has to do is work, work, and work smooth which they do. I wouldn't hesitate on getting one.

Haven't had any problems with the Marzocchi hubs, but only 32 hole, QBP sells dimension hubs, for around the same price, but is offering 36 holes as well.

Are 36H that much stronger than a 32H?

I really dont thing they make the QR20 with the connected axle anymore.

I have a '99 QR20 fork that came with the marzocchi qr20 hub. It's time for a new wheel (going 24"). Can I just use a regular 20mm hub and use the new removable axles? I read at some point that I *have* to use the qr20 hub that came with it. Any truth to this?

the problem is getting an axle. They had conversion axles, but i dont know if you'll be able to find one.

Would I be able to use a standard 20mm axle with the qr20 quick release?

I have no experience with any other form of 20mm axle, so excuse the newbness of the questions.

there is no standard 20mm axle, they are proprietary to the fork. The axles can differ even within the same fork maker.

if you need a 20mm axle, its bought as a fork replacement part

hmm....alright, thanks for the info. I guess it might be easiest to build a new rim on the hub then. I was hoping to build a 36 spoke wheel though. Guess my other option is a new fork, which I've kind if been wanting since mine's so flexy.

thanks for the help.

I'm hesitating a guess towards "yes". It's been a while since I played with an old QR20 fork, but from my vague recollection the QR20+ removable axle would fit them. You can buy the QR20+ axles seperately, I know even some cheaper hubs come with them for some strange reason.
