Nearly 100,000 Massachusetts taxpayers have been fined for failing to obtain health insurance, even as a major survey concludes the effort to create near-universal coverage in the state is meeting key goals.

Ugg, don't even get me started. Good idea...worst execution ever. RI has taken alot of people from mass who are trying to avoid the fines.

I'm not being sarcastic, but why is it a bad implementation? Oregon is looking at a similar setup. The premise is that the low risk subsidize the high risk, like car insurance.

The subsidized care is pretty meager. It really provides no sense of security for the people on it. The main motive behind the system wasn't to provide health care, but to clean house in the hospitals. If I recall correctly Mass is now in debt partially because of the system.
