Massanutten Resort will be hosting its annual YEE-HA! downhill race on the weekend of April 28th & 29th. The race this year has been moved to a Saturday / Sunday, instead of a Friday / Saturday. Your entry fee allows lift access for practice runs 10am-5pm on Saturday, April 28th & 8am-10:45am on Sunday, April 29th before your race run. If you pre-register for the race, it will save you $$ (same prices as last year).

George, Chop & Brock have been hard at work adding new trail to replace a lower section of trail between the lower fire road and the final rock garden. This newer section of trail adds berms and flow to replace the washed-out root section (pics & video from new section below).

New section preview video

Come out and race at Massanutten this year, it should be a great time! Check out photos from previous races and more shots of the new section here

Any way to ride the trails before the race weekend? I live 1.5 hours away and would like to check them out.

Just curious....will there be any waterpark discounts for racers? Thinking about bringing the whole clan up fo this one.

You can ride the trail before the race, but you would need to hike up the hill. The access road is gated (so no shuttles) and the lift will not be running before the event. That trail is usually only open for the race weekend, but if you give us a call at the bike shop ( 540.289.4957 ) before you come, we can give you the info you would need.

In the past we have given out one 50% off WP coupon per registered rider and plan on doing that again this year. When you pick up your registration packet, just ask and we can probably give you another couple coupons or you might be able to snag a few from other riders who might not use theirs.

Looking good! Thanks for your work.
Thanks for recognizing the effort. We need a large turnout to keep the wheels
turning. Bring friends and family to enjoy the Free camping and chairlift rides.

Thanks for racing with us every year.

Just an idea...it would be helpful to your marketing approach if riders could share last years photos with their friends on Facebook/Twitter and such from the link you provided.
As it is now there's no way to do that.
I was going to send my favorite pic of Logan in his first Pro win to all my friends as a reminder of your race....
Yee Ha!
I love Massanutten!!!!

Thanks for checking out the photos first and foremost. I try to keep the look of my photo site clean, so I have some options turned off for easy sharing. If you click on the thumbnail photo you want to share (and it loads larger on the right), you can copy the url address and paste that on FB or twitter. I did sell pictures from races a few years ago, but last year if you wanted your picture, I emailed everyone a digital copy for free.

Come out and race this year, it should be a great time!

Lookin forward to this upcoming weekend. Given that the Beginner class isn't divided up, wondering if I should opt for the challenge of moving up to Sport class 19-29......

The race weekend is right around the corner. Massanutten received some rain over the weekend which should have the course in great shape for this Saturday / Sunday. George and I continued to improve the new section on Friday and will put the finishing touches on later this week.

Keep in mind that we moved the race to a Saturday and Sunday so that you working monkeys can come out and enjoy a full day of lift-serviced practice runs on Saturday 10-5pm before a brief practice and race day on Sunday.

The weather is looking like it will be sunny and in the low / mid 60s both days. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=38.404639557718916&lon=-78.76263429410756&site=lwx&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=text

It is almost race time and we are excited to have everyone here. There is a chance of rain over the weekend, but we will keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

Now the question is; who will take home the money and bragging rights in the Pro Class? The two novelty checks shown above feature last year's Pro winners: Lauren Daney and Logan Mulally. Are you all gonna let these young guns run away with the victory again?

Super Riding Conditions for practice yesterday. The riders had great reviews to the new addition
of flow, berms and jumps. Thanks to Ironwood Outdoors for the great trail building. Over 200 riders
registered to race today. Thanks to everyone at Massanutten Resort and the volunteers that allow
this great race to run each year. Stay tuned for results and pictures early next week.

Wow that was a fast turnaround, thanks a lot!

The race was my first "real" DH race (I did Clemson and ETSU, neither of which were as technical), so a lot of it was just a learning experience and trying/adjusting my riding. That course has got me beat but I definitely had a good time and am always up for a challenge. Now to buy some real DH tires for my bike.......

great weekend, awesome making some new friends. Washed out and crashed during my race run but still had a great time.
I lost my chain and then went off course for some unknown reason after I got the chain back on.

Nice talking with you Saturday morning, never ended up seeing you on the trails at all.

Had a great time, my buddy took 4th in Pro and my GF rode her first race ever and got third in beginner womens.

Lot's of fun, can't wait to ride again next year.

Had a great time as always at this race. Weather turned out great and can't thank the Team of people who work hard to put this event on every year enough!

I took lots of great shots and killed my Helmet Cam on a tree. I will post up what I have soon

Once again thanks,
Cecil

How was the weather?
It was your typical Shenandoah Valley weather. Saturday was cool, damp, with some showers mid-morning. The rest of the afternoon was dry. Then there were some storms that moved in overnight but everything cleared up and was sunny/warm on race day. The trails luckily didn't turn into a mud pit, just soft in spots.

Had a blast at the Yee-Ha. It kicked my @$$ but such an awesome course and well put on event.

If your looking for another race soon come down to Kentucky the weekend of May 12-13. There will be a DH event on the 12th and a XC event the 13th.
