EVs are never going to save the planet so a few random fires isn't that big of a setback.

I wonder if eBikes have a history of spontaneous combustion?

In the early 90s I had a friend whose parents owned, what at the time, was a late model thunderbird. They received a very similar recall notice in the mail just an hour or two after the last fire truck drove off, having spent a good portion of the morning trying to keep the fire in the garage from moving into the rest of the structure.

I'm sure those of us of a certain age can recall the glorious Pontiac Fiero.
