How far is the airport? Is it cheaper to ship the bike or bring it on the plane?MMike said:
Yeah, I was told by a friend of mine that it is a rain fest and muddy to boot but the footy in "earthed" looked really good. Fast, bermed, rocky with fast sections and that big bridge jump at the bottom, AWESOME. So cool, I am really looking forward to coming now, I love Canada. Thanks for all the advice yo.Threepointtwo said:That depends, are you really fast and in my age group? In that case, it sucks, don't waste your time or money.
Otherwise, that place rocks! The race is well run, the course is one of the funnest I have ever been on, the people are great. I am definitely going back. The soil is dark and loamy and it rained the only time I've been there. A fair amount of rocks and roots, Mt. Snow-like but not as much.
Saweet!! That is so great, thanks for the info bro, Air Canada huh? They must be one of the only airlines to do that, I wonder if they will insure your bike. Any idea about costs for lodging?DIRTWRKS said:Hi,
Bromont is a fun place to ride and the Masters is well run, imagine it only costs us about $75 US for a season pass there. Some riders tell me the terrain resembles Plattekill but I have never been to that hill.
The Montreal airport is like an hour and 15 minutes away from Bromont.
Boston is like a good 5 hour drive away,
Might want to check for fares with Air Canada since I beleive they do not charge to carry bikes on flights coming from outside the country.
Regards,

its about at the 'O' of montreal on the map. You can make it in 40mins if you know where all the speed traps are, which is everywhere...MMike said:Do you see Boston anywhere on this map?
(and on this map... Bromont is... more or less anyway, between Montreal and Sherbrooke)
14 is legal in canada.... :evil:Mumbles said:that waterpark has waaaaaay too many good looking underage girls
Ahh....the age old question... So who will you ship it to? Who's going to sign for it? Hope it makes it through customs in time for the race...Heath Sherratt said:I think I'll probably ship it ups then so at least it will be insured and guaranteed to arrive on time.
hahah, oh man, dont tell me things like that! :evil:S.G.D said:14 is legal in canada....

I just found out that you can recieve two waivers from the uci to fly your bike for free! If i use a Planet X bike bag i can ship it on the plane as luggage and it will be insured by the uci! Cool breeze.MMike said:Ahh....the age old question... So who will you ship it to? Who's going to sign for it? Hope it makes it through customs in time for the race...
Why are people so afraid of flying with their bikes???
No, you only need to podium to wear the US Jersey. And that's out of style these days anyway since you can't show your sponsors logos. Thanks UCIDamn True said:So whats the deal with riding in the worlds? Do you still have to have a US National podium to qualify?
Hey, I know Lars from Trailhead! Nice guy far as I know, ggod rider too. Tell him I says HI.Damn True said:So whats the deal with riding in the worlds? Do you still have to have a US National podium to qualify?
Let's not blame the UCI. Why can't sponsors just have jerseys that fill the UCI regulations and still have there logos? Sounds like there just needs to be more creativity instead of finger pointing. Just my two cents, but I saw a jersey from Cannondale that has an american flag incorporated into the graphic, it's called the Americana jersey. Check it out. Tracey should too.ChrisKring said:No, you only need to podium to wear the US Jersey. And that's out of style these days anyway since you can't show your sponsors logos. Thanks UCI
You need the following:
1) to be 30+
2) a UCI license. Buck up at www.usacycling.org get it online to get it in time.
3) a US flag on your jersey or helmet. Just buy a sticker at the gas station before you leave home.
4) pay your entry fee.
5) be drug free since they do test the winner and a random from each age class. I watched a guy fake an injury after his qualifing run so he wouldn't have to race. There were only 5 people in his age class so that meant good odds of getting tested.
It's the best race for the $$$. The US Open is a close second.
So any old geezer (from the US) who meets the criteria can race? I thought only the host country could have unlimited geezers on the slopes for the Geezer Worlds. My friend was offered a U.S. team spot for a few podiums in Nats Expert, but decided not to go. Is it Expert and up or *cough, *ahem* Sport class as well?ChrisKring said:No, you only need to podium to wear the US Jersey. Lars got second. He was about 3 seconds off some Canadian. Lars said he came to a complete stop at one point due to an error. He was smoking the course though.Acadian said:I know...but nothing yet for DH. Thought some of you would have the scoops..
ChrisKring said:But I am sure a bunch of us will agree that the highlight of the weekend was the Friday and Saturday night go cart racing on the 40 mph go carts in Granby. On Friday night there was 13 DH racers tearing it up including a few under the influence. Video was shot and should be up on Hcor in a couple of days. I think Jon "Hcor" won that night.
On Saturday night, Chuck Conlen, Hcor, Nobin, John Lesie, Lars and I went back to the track for some "clean" racing. I guess Lars missed the pre race meeting since he bermed off me and put me into the tires at 20mph. Anyway, it was a blast.
I heard that this super fast US guy got the bronze in 35-39. He is also rumored to be incredibly good looking and modest.Damn True said:The only result I'm aware of is that Lee McCormack ( www.leelikesbikes.com ) got 8th (with a crash).
