Trevor Porter is Old Skool baby. He has been racing forever and has had some decent results in World Cup competition over the years. Did well on the Canadian circuit too. Super nice guy.
Not anymore. You cannot race pro/elite at a national level event in Canada. The US guys can, as their federation is not directly affiliated with the UCI as Canada's is.

This topic was a serious F up at the race. The UCI official didn't know if the US Pro/semi-pro guys could race or not. The word is that they can't race the Master's next year if they have raced a Norba national, AMBC or Sea Otter in the Pro or Semi-pro class. The race would have like 5 competitors in each class if this happens. It would give me an advantage. However, I would prefer to compete against the Pro riders.
They should change the rule so that Pros/semi-pros that have not raced a World Cup that are over 30 can race the Master's. If they don't there will be one of 2 results:
A) A bunch of semi-pros will drop to Expert so they can race Norbas and the Master's. The older experts will be upset with the sandbagging.
B) The semi-pros will skip Norba races to race the Master's instead.
c) the Semi-Pros/Pro riders will skip the Master's. The numbers will not be there to support the race. Over half the 30-34 and 35-39 field were pro or semi rpo riders. Those 2 classes made up the majority of the entries. There will be a 50% decline in attendance.
In addition, why are you singling out US racers? The UCI official said you couldn't race if your license said elite on it. That would rule out the Canadian that won the 30-34, wouldn't it? Someone mentioned above that he had done well in elite World Cups. Did he downgrade to expert from Pro? He beat Lars and a handful of other Pro riders. If he is racing expert, he is sandbagging.
Trevor, used to race on the WC circuit a few years ago....have not seen him around...maybe that is why...so he could qualify for the masters....he is no sandbagger.
I was under the understanding that as long as you did not race a WC, you could do the masters worlds this year....

The canadians who wanted to participate all downgraded to expert. As long as you are not top 10 nationally, the uci will grant you 1 downgrade in your career.
I mentioned the USA because you guys CAN get away with it right now, as you aren't directly affiliated with the UCI (you have a NORBA license, witha uci add-on). Almost every other country has a dierct UCI license.
Hum... No idea who that would be Come on go ahead send us a link to your podium.. you know you want to show it !!
I don't know what that issue about pro and semis is anyway.
Utah EXPERT masters would own that race if we were to send them over there (And no I am not talking about me unfortunately beside I'd have to race for Frrrance.. lol)
