why don't you explain or have your little brother explain how he came up with 7.5?
5^2 - (40/4)/2 , substitute 25 for 5^2 (which is 5 * 5 of course)
==> 25 - (40/4)/2, now substitute 10 for 40/4
==> 25 - 10/2, now remember that division takes precedence over subtraction so substitute 5 for 10/2
==> 25 - 5
== 20.
little tip for you and/or your bro -- master algebra and trig... and calculus and other higher maths will be a friggin' cake walk. Don't master them and you might as well apply for the janitor gig now.
