Trump is purely transactional, I wonder what Gaetz had to offer in return. Apparently not enough. But I don't think he had been sentenced, so how could he be pardoned?
That was an issue with a lot of his followers. You can't put a pre-pardon on someone, so unless they have been tried, it's a no go.
