Does anyone here have real world experience on both of these forks?

I’ve seized the opportunity and picked up a brand new Mattoc Pro (II, I think).

I’m currently on a 2015 Pike, retrofitted with the Debonair spring. I love it. It’s awesome. It is so supple off the top... just so damned supple. But it’s creaking like a mofo.

Question: will the Manitou ever measure up? I might just flip it and add to my “new Pike” fund.

I have a friend with one. He didn't know how to set it up. When someone finally showed him, he was blown away! Sounds like there's a lot to figure out, but once it's done, you're golden. It also sounds like you know how to set it up, so I'm gonna say run it. And let us know how you like it!

The IRT definitely takes some time to get dialed but imo it's worth it.

I had one, pre IRT, circa 2015ish. Liked it better than the Pike of that era, but I haven't compared it directly to a newer one.

It’s the smoothness of the Pike RCT3 solo air with Charger 1 upgraded with a debonair spring that blows me away at the moment.

I’m still staring at the Mattoc wondering what to do with it.

Ride it and see? Or keep it until I want to sell my Nomad next summer then use it as a selling feature as a brand new fork.

I had a Mattoc Pro a few seasons ago. Not a bad fork, great value, but compared to Fox/RS of the time it had a little more stiction. The current gen Lyriks I have are well beyond it, I'd assume the same is true for the Pike. I'm not sure how much the Mattoc has improved on that front over the last few years.

Hey peach... any interest a brand new lyrik?
I dunno. I’d started out with that plan, but am now starting to think more along the line of minimum cost exit/upgrade strategies.

I love my Nomad, but obsolescence looms.

I played it near perfectly with my SB66C, so I’m looking to repeat. My current Nomad3 cost me about $500 or so after riding my Yeti for 3 years. It was a stroke of ///genius.

I’ve got my eye on a lizardly scheme which would make @johnbryanpeters proud.

I have plans to deploy next season. Opportunity permitting...

I’m the meantime, if my front wheel remains atttached to my bike, I’m all good! Probably...

this is all very cryptic.

on a more tangible point:

If you're happy with what you have, then why on earth did you buy something else?! Even if it was a good deal?

just sell it to a grom that needs it for the same price you got it, and stick it to the Lizards!

Because it's creaky!

Without treading on any toes, having ridden all of them I'd agree with djjr, the latest Pike and Lyrik are superior pretty much all round. I'd consider the Mattoc a lighter duty fork (I'm sure it has a place still), and found the Pike/Lyrik to have better sliding performance.

Pretty much all long travel singlecrowns will develop creaks for some % of the products out there, I don't think it's right at all, but I also don't think any brand is better than any other on that front once normalized for units sold - so since you're otherwise happy with your old fork, I'd flip this and get a new Pike or re-CSU your old one.

Try the green loctite, be the RM Guinea pig.
It's not very common in stores, in Australia at least anyways.

I’m starting to consider just selling the whole rig with the creaky fork...

How many of you guys just tolerate the noise? I’ve been managing to do that for a couple months.
