I know that I was impressed enough riding one on a buddy's heckler that I'm trying to find things around my shop to sell so that I can buy a maverick fork. My friend rides his at least 4 times a week, has owned it for about 2 months now and has had no problems with it. It will be going on my 03 enduro (hopefully).
'Aquaholic' is a local rider here in San Diego who has one on a 5-spot. Might try PMing him for some opinions, although he's not on the board much, if ever...so don't be ticked if he never answers.
I know he liked it, but who doesn't like a hugely expensive new fork at first, right? He might have some longer-term feedback since I last heard from him.
I loved the one I borrowed from Maverick last year. I recently went on a trail ride with a pro downhiller and he was riding a Heckler with the Mav fork. He rode the hell out of that thing and it performed great. I'm thinking of getting a new bike next year that is better suited for the Mav fork so I can get one too.

I rode with him when it was brand new and then again after about 2 weeks, he said the differance between it and his previous fox vanilla was like the differance between trying to cut steak with a butter knife or and new razor blade. I can say it's stiff and light and it feels alot like a coil fork. The travel adjustment works well but when it's dialed down it might as well be locked out because the spring rate is too stiff to be useful except on hard hits. I wouldn't want it for my own bike because I think I'd break it but if I was the kind of guy who rides really rough stuff without hitting anything hard I'd consider one.
FYI, the 4" mode is just for climbing. It behaves the same as an eta zoke fork...stiffens. And this is a cross country fork......that weighs 3.5 pounds............go fast but treat it as such.
I've been riding my Maverick fork since March and I'm lovin it more
every ride. Febuary was my 40th birthday and I decided to order a
bike to support my mid-life-crisis, so I go an Ellsworth ID, Mav. Fork, Hope Mono M4 discs, Hadley 108 point rear hub, and all XT componits.
The fork works great with this frame and my style of rideing, long or epic
cross country trails from 20 to 60 mile long.
I's easy to drop the fork down to the 4" mode with only a quater turn of a knob but it does stiffin up front end. The knob is so close to the handlebars and so easy to use that I end up using is countless times on every ride. Another thing I found interesting about this fork is that you don't get "fork flop" when you are navigating a tight switchback. It's somthing I didn't expect and it's another reason I love this fork so much.
