Mavic 519 vs. Mavic 521 for singlespeed?

Hi,

My new singlespeed (04 Kona Unit) is on the way and I need to build some wheels. I currently have some 521s on a more FR-ish hardtail, which have been perfect. I probably won't be running much larger than 2.3s, but if I go rigid, I may try out a 2.6 up front.

Thanks.

depends what you're doing on it..... if you're not racing (or a weight obsessive) I'd definately go for a 521 on the rear. I find that the back wheel on my SS takes a pounding as momentum must be conserved up nasty rocky climbs... and that quite often doesn't mean the smoothest route.

As the unit is a fairly light, XC type frame, I'd go for a 519 an the front (but never used one with a 2.6 - currently running a 517 with a 2.35 and no problems).

p.s. is the sig a quote from one of the songs on "Tommy" by the Who?
