I need some new wheels. These are both the same price, and at the top of what I'm willing to pay - $350.

The Mavics are about 150g lighter and UST compatible. The Eastons seem like they might be slightly more durable and are 20mm compatible. From what I've read, both are reasonably well regarded.

I would like to go tubeless at some point. UST may be slightly easier. The Eastons will work with Stan's.

Any thoughts on either? Any other wheelsets in the price range that I should check out?

After way too much time spent thinking about this, I went with the Eastons. Everything I read seems to indicate that they're stronger and will last longer; not bad things as I'm just about 200 pounds. I can deal with the weight penalty, they're probably still lighter than what is on the bike now. The other reason, and I admit this isn't entirely logical, is that $350 for wheels that were originally $800 seems like a better deal than $350 for wheels that were originally $500.

I've never had a really good set of wheels, so I'm pretty excited. I'll make sure to post again after I've been able to put in some time on them.

Those wheels are still for sale on pricepoint. Would you recommend them for aggressive riding with jumps and drops?

I've had a set of Easton Havocs for about 4+ years and they are pretty solid. I've never had them trued, and they are still straight as an arrow with thousands of miles. The hubs have been really good ( better than my Chris Kings- which can be a bit fussy). Overall they've been really good....
