What's up with the sloppy hub engagement on deemaxs. I just purchased them and the hub engagement is sloppy. A cheap Shimano Deore engage quicker than these. I bought a set thinking that they would be an upgrade from azoic outlaws but my outlaws engage quicker than these things. Are these just good hoops with a crappy mavic hub. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I would like to keep hoops and lace something up but they are 28 spoke. Hard to find a good hub to lace to this.

Deemax hubs blow.
I broke the internal bearing support on mine, and they wouldn't warranty it...

If you can't find a 28 spoke hub, you can lace your rim to a 36 spoke hub, and not lace 4 holes on each side.

EDIT: Hope Pro2 is available in 28 spoke lacing. Score for you...

Yeah, mavic hubs are all junk. Sounds like you're very lucky that the ProII's come in 28h, they are comparatively quite nice hubs. They have 24 solid engagement points - which isn't truckloads, but more than shimano.

my dees are fine. everytime i take out the axle though the pawls fall all on the floor. but the hub still works fine. they dont have very good engagement but what do you need that for when doing anything but trials. less engagements is faster and quieter.
