I missed the sticky, but besides being two years old, it mentions using dt nipples?

Mavic has a couple of ways.

On the aftermarket XM819 (and the older X3.1), they use a threaded outer portion to secure the nipple to the rim. With these, they recommend using the longer 16mm nipples to give more clearance.

On their Crossmax wheels, they come with special nipples that threads directly into the rim.

longer nipples recommended but not needed, ive built then with normal nipples before and they hold up fine, and true the same, all the longer nipples let you do is start the build with more nipple to turn. once there built tho thers still enough nipple sticking out to use a spoke wrench( using normal nipples)

btw i LOVE nipples
