Okay, so i just tried calling Michelin and got transfered all over the goddamn place and put on hold for 15 mins. I still didn't get an answer to my question so i'm doing what i should've done in the first place; asking you :monkey: 's.

I want to run the new Mavic D3.1 disc specific UST rims (tubeless) for 2003 with Michelin Comp 24.1's or 16.1's. My question is, are these tires compatible with the Mavic UST system? They say that they are Nagasti tubeless system compatible, but they do not specify whether they are UST compatible.

Thanks for the help, please don't transfer my call!

Hmm...considering Hutchinson, Mavic and Michelin all worked together to develop the UST system, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I do know that Stan is developing a strip for UST which is supposed to increase it's effectivness. A friend of mine talked to Stan as soon as he gets those rims in stock, he will be working on the strips for them as well.

Stans is stupid for tires and rims that are already ust i have UST and i've had my biking sitting in my room for about amonth and they haven't lost any air it seems. Mavic Ust rims seal perfectly.

I have used Michelin 24.1DH tires on my X3.1s succesfully. BUT. You will probably need a compressor to get them seated. I can sometimes get one on with a foot pump but often have to hit the gas station on the way to the trails to get the other pumped up. It might be because of the wire bead. Once the bead has a few bends in it its hard to get that initial light seal to trap the air. It might be my technique too, but tubeless XC tires are much easier.

Once filled and seated they work fine and because the sidewall is so stiff, you can run really low air. I get away with 15 to 20 psi for my 140 #s.

Okay, got a response from Michelin today. Not only did they respond but a customer service guy called me on the phone and apologized for me being passed around and told me that he had passed my question on to the right person and that i should have an e-mail response shortly... Those michelinites are good people.

So yeah, michelin comps (16, 24, 32) and the dh mud's are compatible with Mavic UST rims.

I have Maxxis Ignitor USTs and Mavic Crossmax XL UST Rims.
I just used soap and water to mount them and they have been going problem free for over a month now.

I have been thinking of adding Stans to the mix to protect against punctures, but I am unsure if I should do this or not. What do you :monkey::monkey::monkey:s think?
